A few weeks ago I heard part of 12 would be closed for awhile because of the new project going on in West Utica. Is that where you mean?

Someone hit a telephone pole. My guess is a large truck. Closed from Stewart's to the village earlier

12B was closed due to a utility pole replacement. But Route 12 keeps closing because the Oneida County DPW is asleep when it comes to keeping on top of that road..... HELLO OCDPW!!!!! when it snows, Rt 12 & Burmaster Road turns into a parking lot. Happens every year, every time it snows. You'd think they'd have it figured out by now. Good for tow operators though!!

They do plow it, but stop when the snow drifts become too dangerous. That is when it gets closed for safety. You can drive right around the closed sign if u please, but insurance doesnt have to cover any damages if an unfortunate accident were to happen! Good luck with that! Snow plowiing isnt as easy as it looks. Try driving one of those huge trucks and let us know how that works out too!

When the wind whips & the snow drifts its a dangerous road, no argument there. But I'm talking about at the beginning stages or during moderate snow events that Rt. 12 turns to crap. Next time it begins to snow.... sit on Burmaster Road at the intersection of Rt. 12. Watch the cars & trucks try to climb the grade on Rt. 12. When they are off the road and all stacked up, tell me if you think OCDPW is on top of things. It happens nearly every time (if not every time) it snows. I agree that when the road is closed there is an obvious risk to ignoring the road closures. But when its just beginning to snow and traffic is moving along nicely, there is a reasonable expectation that Rt. 12, a major artery, will be passable.......... Oh, and by the way, I DO drive one of those "huge trucks" to plow snow.... and it works out fine!!:-)
