How about the new owner has a real sports segment? That guy who runs around asking his colleagues what day it is is quite good, so hire him full-time OR bring back Powles who was very good at sports. WKTV can certainly devote at leas a min ute to sports, right?
You honestly think Powles was very good at sports? He sucked! Couldn't read his own script, mispronounced the names, forgot in the middle of the piece what team or player he was talking about, did all kinds of childish noises, kept mis-queing the videos and then would blame someone else while on the air, has about as much knowledge of sports as my dog. Listening to him give sports was like watching paint dry. Why do you think he was bounced off of sports? He should be given the late Ed Whitaker's old job. BOZO The Clown. He's already thought of as a Bozo, and has years of experience since he's a biffune.

I've been out of the area for nearly 45 years since high school, with the military, and a job out of state. After recently retiring and returning to watch over my elderly parents, I am amazed with WKTV. It is still the low level, amateur station it was when I was a teen. One would think they would have improved just by existing all that time. They certainly don't take any pride in how they operate. Only the faces and names have changed. Very sad. My parents think they are the greatest because they haven't been introduced to any of the average competition out there, let alone the better than average.. Sort of like constantly viewing Pop Warner football without ever seeing any higher level of play. One would think that they would have to meet a standard of competency to maintain affiliation with the NBC Network! What can one say, other than watch and bear it.
Caught the noon news today.
Jason is so awful to listen to...broadcasting 101, know how to read your lines.
He reads like he is doing a sports report.
I had to turn on YNN, just could not listen to Jason for another minute. Jason...do you ever playback your news...please listen to yourself a few times, you need to get it together! You can not possibly believe you are doing the best job you can, when you read the news. Please, if we must have you on the news, try to improve your reading and presentation skills. It has been long enough for you to get the change from sports to local news.

Are you kidding me, Powles you think is good. The guy can't get one story right without screwing it up. Are you having trouble with your hearing?

Sorry to disappoint, but YES, as a teen, and even before that, my sister and I did watch the news. Our parents wanted us to be informed on what was going on locally and in the world. I go back to Lyle Bosely, Jerry Fiore, The Atlantic weather man. Commercials at Christmas time with Uncle louis for Philipson's " And I'm throwing that away", John Cameron Swayze and the news, later Chet Hutley and David Brinckley. Commercials during WKTV news were Atlantic Gasoline, of course and I remember hearing a lot of times," Lenchners for beautiful furs." Don't tell me I didn't watch the news. And just for the record, I was way ahead of my classmates with current events. And YES, I raised my children to be the same. That's why one day in class when the teacher asked what major event happened in Toronto last night, my daughter was the only one in class to know that at the ballgame, they accidentally raised the American Flag upside down.

In addition to my response to your accusation that I did not watch WKTV news as a kid,, I would also like to mention that this was originally back when WKTV was channel # 13. They were forced to switch to channel 2 when WSYR TV in Syracuse began on channel #3. AND, I also watched Mickey Mouse Club on WTVH 5 Syracuse. Are you also going to accuse me of NOT watching that????

As the lone defender of the poor quality on air staff and sales department at WKTV, we would like to know what your job us at the station? Only an a-hole employed there would defend people who can't read a TelePrompTer! We deserve better news reporting in the Mohawk Valley!

Give us a few examples why anyone owes you anything.
As a potential advertiser, I deserve and want quality on air talent when my company is tied into the station! It may not bother you because you most likely work there but the people who we want to reach as advertisers expect better! Someday when you pull your head out of your ass, you will realize that there is a serious lack of quality at this station!

What management? It's a freakin joke up there. That place is a revolving door these days of bad hires. The managers worth anything left or were fired to cut costs before boston ventures sold the place.

So your trying to tell us that management is causing Jason Powles to flub every story he tries to read from his own scripts and cause Kristen to give the news as if she's auditioning for a Shakespearean play.
