IT was one usher song after another along with Kanye. This was really awful.Possibly the most unpatriotic fire work display in the whole country.
If that's the demographic that Macy's is targeting they won't get anymore of my business.

I watched and their were patriotic songs, as well as Usher, JZ & Alicia Keyes, Rhianna, Kelly Clarkson, and Frank Sinatra.

I'm guessing all you people that posted only played the Star Spangled Banner all day?? Yeah right.

Stupid comments.

Not stupid comments - just people's opinions. That's what the 4th of July is all about, right? Celebrates our freedom to share our thoughts and not have to hide them (like in some other countries). I love Usher, but I agree there's a time and a place for everything, and the fireworks wasn't the time or the place. I was looking forward to the patriotic music synchronized to the fireworks and that didn't happen. I love current, pop, R&B, etc., but a lot of it didn't even fit with the theme. I love Macy's too, and my opinion of the department store hasn't changed - I think they were trying to be more current, but it all missed the mark. I was very disappointed also.

The club music was so disconneced to the meaning and significance of this national moment. A vapid reflection of music selected promoted self-centered commercialism over a hoped for annual celebration of patriotism and pride which Macy's sadly allowed to uncut common sense.

I love Ushers Music but honestly, The fireworks display for July 4th should have patriotic songs. There is a time and place for everything not promoting albums. We have dedicated servicemen and military fighting for our country and the theme is "freedom" AND independence.

Couldn't agree more. The lyrics of some of the songs were so inappropriate and did nothing to inspire us as Americans who are celebrating our country's liberties and personal freedom.

All of these B rate entertainers stink. They have already destroyed mtv, vh1 and the airwaves. Why do you think mtv doesn't play music anymore. The hip hoppers, rappers, wiggers and other no talents just are not good singers. Isn't that cheez ball muzak insufferable. Look at beyonce. A one trick pony. Grunting and grinding like cheap pole dancer at the superbowl half. And actually she isn't even good at it.

They are all horrible. The muzak. Is recycled , dubbed and produced cheaply.

Macys should issue an apology to America and usher should be banned from ever having anything to do with our celebratons.

The fireworks were great, no question. The music SUCKED. The fourth of July is about patriotic songs, not just rap crap. I didn't realize that it was a commercial for Usher. If Macy's pulls the same crap next year, I'm done with them.

"Smh" commented that she heard patriotic songS.... there was one mixed in by Blake Shelton and his wife ONLY because he is Ushers co-host on the VOICE and probably threw it in there to please all the " good ol boys". It was really disappointing.......... and if I may trek off topic, what's more outrageous is that no one else even mentioned this is the genre (hip hop) of music which includes Lil John, who only a few weeks ago had himself videoed dancing and stomping on the American flag..... All the media attention for that incident was just directed as 'oh, that was bad taste and disrespectful'. Nothing else came of it!!! Nothing!!!! It's over and there is no national apology tour for him. No CDs being pulled off the shelves..... but Paula Dean uses the "N" word 15 years ago and her entire life is ruined!! No matter how much she apologized she couldn't loose the scarlet letter!! Something has to change in this country. Its not racial, its realistic.. nothing I stated here is false. Lil John is good to go, Paula Dean is ruined- she provided hundreds of jobs with her restaurants and culinary lines and Lil John promotes smoking weed, wearing bling and treating women as objects..... wake up America. It's time to stop demonizing people who may have used the N Word once. If they apologize-sincerely apologize- then forgive them and move on. I'll step down from my soapbox now..... please don't take this as anykind of a racist post. Thanks

Blacks use the N word all the time. Ever been around a group of black teens. Every other word is the N word. So this hypersensitivity to it is all nonsense. Ask Al Sharpton or any of the other leeches what they call whites behind closed doors.

It's their own black culture that bring their race down. Some of them don't want to better themselves.

It was a true disappointment. No pride, no patriotism, no honor for America. It was 1000% better last year. The music was choreographed to the fireworks, this year it was an Usher and hip hop concert with a firework display. So sad and disappointing. Maybe Macy's will put Usher in charge of the Thanksgiving day parade too and he can make Kanye Wests new baby- North West- the new baby Jesus!! What a depressing night... with the 19 firefighters just killed and the went Boston bombing, Usher felt the need to promote himself ...... disgusting. Choice Macy's, but if you learn from this mistake and go back to the old format next year, we'll forgive you.
Well said. Although the fireworks were absolutely amazing, I enjoyed the music much better last year.

I didn't watch it but love Usher. I had no idea he would use that opportunity to jump on the reverse racism band wagon. I am sorry to hear this, I have a different prespective of Usher now.

Thank you, I thought it was me. I had to turn the station could not take all those teenie boppers screaming. I am not a huge Tayler Swift fan.I do like Usher but was very disappointed in the program. Plus, it was 2 hrs long. which I think they could have had more of a patriotic theme.

Okay - FYI - Sinatra's "New York, New York" has been one of the last songs of the Macy's fireworks display for years. It IS New York, after all, they're allowed. HOWEVER.... the incredibly boring pop music (with FOUR Usher songs in a row) was AWFUL. I'm so used to hearing "The Stars and Stripes Forever" during the Grand Finale I was wondering if after the Alicia Keys "New York" song if they were taking a breather and then really pumping it up. When the credits started rolling I was so ticked off. Still am.

Oh - and what was Mariah Carey doing resting on hay bales? I really, really didn't get that. She looked like Disney made her.:)

The show was for the youth of this country. Let's hope and pray they will we able to have the freedoms that many older Americans have been able to enjoy.
