I have read some moronic posts on here and this one is at the top of the list.

They say Buffalo because let's face it, more people have heard of Buffalo than Utica. The Wikipedia even says the origin is unknown. Basically, they relate it to the closest "big" city. I've been to Buffalo and no one there has a clue what chicken riggies are if they are not native to Utica or haven't been here before.
Yeah they haven't heard of utican slang for a dish that's all around. It's no different than chicken rigatoni served for years.

All "Utica" foods are an affront to dining. The quotes exist because half of the dishes that this backwards town likes to claim as it's own were actually jacked from other places.

Like my personal favorite (barf), greens! Boil perfectly good endives until they're wilted and smother them in olive oil. Toss some prosciutto in there so you can pronounce it "pra-sjoot" like an actual Italian.

Umm...no utica didn't. They created a nickname. That's the reason why "utica riggies" aren't popular nationwide. At a restaurant people would rather eat chicken rigatoni...not some slang kindergarten term.

Hundreds of hits when searching for Utica riggies.

When you look up chicken riggies you see this.

This is Utica, New York's specialty dish. Rigatoni (riggies) pasta is paired with chicken and spicy peppers in a creamy red/white sauce. Some other popular additions are mushrooms and black olives."

I don't see CRETIN RIGGIES, oh wait there under WELFARE.
