Rosato's chocolate cookies are still being made under the same name by a bakery in Frankfort. They are sold at Dari-Del and Parkway drugs. About twice as dry as the originals. Brandegee school class of 1963.

Not east utica but whenever I'm back and drive by the McDonald's at the corner of Genoese st and the parkway I always think about the travel lodge that used to be there. At least I think it was a travel lodge.

EVERY wedns was macaroni night (funny now) & Sunday's. Ma'S fried meatballs & italian bread in homemade sause. The garden in the back yard, all the friendly neighbors who knew your name & knew your parrents. backyard baseball, street football. Roscoe conkling, mt carmel religion (& a beautiful church), TR Proctor ... all the pretty italian girls & bad ass boys (great kids under the hood). aunts, uncle, cousins , friends always stopping in , having a bite, tipping a few. fall time taking the three old 50 gallon wood barrals out of the basement, soaking them for weeks with the garden hose till they didn't leak, taking a ride with dad down mohawk st to buy the california grape by the truck load .. then making 120 gallons of red wine ..enought for 1 year. italian ice at belvederes & baseball cards, pusty's and cannoli's from florentine & caruso's. chicago market & dan dee donuts. Wispers about the local mob. football pools during the season. all the italians feasts.. Mt carmel, St Anthony etc. The extra kitchen in the basement, making homemade italian sausage, homemade macaroni & canning sauce & vegetables..& big freezers in the basement filled with homemade food. The old cars and boys with their bikes.
Great Parents.

Remember Joanie the waitress there? Also his cumare
I worked there when I was 16. What an education! Rufie and the guys there everyday. Henry used to say that we should start a football team and we'd win if the the football was made of money because Joanie would catch it every time. Remember Jeanette with the red hair? She was something else:) Tony Rizzo's strip club across the street. We used to go and get White Russians and put them in to go cups and drink them at work. They had the best waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. There used to be a Doctor on Lincoln Ave that would give you bottles of white crosses, Black Beautys, and other assorted amphetamines for not much money. We'd send our heftiest friends in and share them. Smoking weed and drinking MD 20 20 at Proctor Park. I'm almost 60 years old now and survived. Can't imagine how sometimes! RIP to all my friends who have passed. Way too many gone way too soon!
