Does any one really know who burned down Portofino/Trinkaus Manor. The statute of limitations was up a couple years ago, It never made any sense that the people running would have done it since their Fire Insurance was not paid up....

This is what i will never understand. If i set my house on fire they come in a charge me with arson and i have to prove my inocence beyond a doubt which in this county. Means i go to jail if i dont plea to a lesser jail cgarge. But if i am a businessman. I can burn my place and the law doesent find enough proof against me or its for renovation expense at the insurance or taxpayers gift.

my george keniston was at the manor a week before the fire and hooked up the fire alarms and sprinkler system and it was proven that it was un-hooked when the fire happened

I believe the other times the jerks tried to burn the Manor, they failed because they forgot to turn off the sprinklers.

Apparently quite few. The children who were taken there for Christmas & other wonderful family celebrations have grown up & now want to know what happened to their happy memory. The evil act of burning it down has soured the happy memories of thousands & thousands of people and fills them with anger.

Is this property for sale? I might be interested in rebuilding the Manor.

The People who own Buck Apartments bought it, they have remodeled the Motel into apartments.
They apparently plan to build 2 more buildings on the property.

Genaro did not own Trinkaus Manor/ Portofino. Sid Genis bought the property from the bank, who forced the Trinkaus's to sell. They had run the buisness into the ground and were DEEP in debt. Sid Genis leased the restaurant to the owners of Casa Imports. The Cosimento's and John Fornino.
first of all Sid genius cost mentors fornino all owned Trinkaus Manor. The Trinkaus family held the 2 Nd mortgage and bank of Utica had the first mortgage. Casa Imports is i part of this mix. What happened is that they let the original ins lapse. They got new insurance BUT did not have the bank or the Trinkaus family as first beneficiary. It took over 7 years and lots of lawyers fees to the bank and Trinkaus get what was owed them. I truly believe that this was all mafia related and Sid genius was one of the biggest crooks in Utica and Casa imports to,this day mafia and you can't tell me different.

you are totally wrong on your thinking about who got the insurance money. Bank of Utica got first tabs Trinkaus family got second taps and those crooks who bought it got quite a bit of money. Casa imports gennaro Sid genius all those crooks.

Let's get real, Regardless of what happened AFTER The Trinkaus' sold "The Manor" those who worked there know the Reality of the situation. We saw the Family as they siphoned the life blood from that Glorious Institution.
I'm sure there are many "family businesses" that have gone down that same road...but for those who were most responsible for the Downfall of the Original "Trinkaus Manor" to try blaming the subsequent operators of the property of malfeasance is at least hypocritical and at worst projectionist.

I lived in Oriskany during and after the "hay day" and every day as I drove by the Marquee on my way to work, I thought "Why are they doing NOTHING" to save this Amazing Landmark?......
No Promotions....No Specials....No Nothing!

And then when the Bank finally told them "You are Done!"
They all sat back and waited for the day they could say "See those dirty guineas couldn't make it work either"

I think that's the saddest part of this story.
Not that it burned down....Not that it's gone....That the TRINKAUS'S never took responsibility for losing the only thing Oriskany had going for it.
