Who will be the next city comptroller?
Posted 1 hour(s) ago
Wanted: A responsible and qualified individual to handle the finances for a fiscally distressed city and willing to stand up to a wide range of political interests. Government experience preferred. Mark Joseph Jr. says,"that it has to be someone who is honest and that can tell the truth."

Well, that disqualifies everyone in Utica and what does that say about Mike Cerminaro.
to tell the truth

City GOP committee Chairman Joseph Hobika Jr. said he has not heard from any candidates but wants to push make sure the city gets the best possible people to run.

“We need someone to tell the truth,” he said.“My goal and my issue are to invoke a public debate and public vetting of the candidates.”

The Independence Party will try to put together its own slate of candidates. If it can’t, it would consider endorsing someone in another party, Julian said.

“What needs to happen is we have to have someone who is familiar with contracts and knows how to extrapolate information and figure out what it will costs us over time,” he said.

Morhouse will only run if Vescera runs? There goes his credibility and career. A total whack job.

Vescera? Dude is half a tard and could get ten votes.

Marino? Good future, wrong race. He's been there for like 5 minutes and didn't have a clue where City Hall even was until he decided to run last year. Have some patience.

Fiorello? The most qualified of the bunch and a nice guy. But, in Utica, that means he's totally unelectable. Not to mention that he's been in the Comptroller's office or Budget Director since the early 90's. That opens him up for MANY attacks about why he couldn't do anything to stop the mess we're in. And if he tried, then he clearly didn't try hard enough considering he still has his politically appointed job. Finally, if he only runs if Palmieri allows him to, that quote will kill him. Who will you work for, Palmieri or the people?

Short of a free ride, which is totally what Meola is trying to do considering his blatant lie about Morehouse being the only one to approach him, this is a failed bunch.

But hey, Meola can feel like a king maker and keep thinking he's cool. The city? Meh, who cares.

Any questions?

Who would you suggest for City Comptroller?

Tom Keeler.

Need someone who has guts and is willing to work and inform everyone about what is really going on. If the fire department will support them we don't want them.

Tom Keeler wouldn't be bad, but he's a Republican and Hobika is in Meola's back pocket. As Meola says, "I'm working with him to make sure Fiorello has no opposition." So, Tom wouldn't get the support of his own party.

It's an off-cycle year with very little turnout. If you want to beat the usual suspects, it will need to be done in a primary. And it needs to be someone that has proven they can beat them with their own base. Zecca has done it and could again but I'm not sure he's up to it.

Hobika is a crook, period. Morehouse is a degenerate gambler. Great people in office.

As long as it isn't Larry Tanoury, we'll be fine. He's the LAST thing this city needs!

Has anyone thought of electing a business WOMAN?

All the names mentioned so far have political connections which is the main reason why Utica is in such a bad shape.

Women, as a rule, have experience in handling their own household budgets and are not influenced by "con men" (other politicians). Handling a City Budget, along with a business background, would be a piece of cake for the right woman.

Think about it..........

Just like when Roefaro quit and I found out there was a God because the loser and worse Mayor ever couldn't torment taxpayers anymore even though he put into place public safety contracts until 2015 that were stuck paying and have to live with. Mike Cerminaro is finally gone, thank God. Even though Mark Joseph Jr. says that you need a comptroller who tells the truth, does that mean corruption is no longer a qualification?

The next comptroller needs to be the anti-Ceminaro. Last year when there was not enough money for the city to pay the bills, WKTV did an interview right after the owner of the Bank of Utica offered a short term, low interest loan. Ceminaro was as giddy as a school girl. I remember wondering if he had eaten a lot of paint chips as a kid. If you look up clueless in the dictionary his picture is included in the definition.
Whoever becomes the next comptroller needs to be educated in finance, non-political and honest. Good luck with that.
I think the surest way to have a control board step in is to elect someone who is either inept or dishonest. Utica is in the situation it is for those reasons. Utica is on the watch list and any shenanigans wil put it over the top. If that happens hold on to your seats because it will be an extremely bumpy ride for a lot of people.

Finding a new comptroller for the city of Utica is like looking for a new captain of the Titanic after the glacier tore a hole in the hull.
Where in 'the hull' are you going to find someone willing to take on that responsibility?

When the US government debt was downgraded, we had cerminaro on the radio saying how well tye city was in good financial shape. Shortly after, he turns into borrowinaro. Michael took us all for a bunch of fools. He was soliciting applications for director of economic development a week before the election. This man is looney.
