What is going on with this place and the how do I contact the owner Ron Prince. I got a notice on my car they want to charge $33 month to park there and that I should pay some guy named Paul. Does anyone know if this is a legit or what the plan for the building is?

It's a private lot and everyone parking there is parking illegaly. However, nobody has been given permission to collect fees for the lot. More than likely it will be fenced off and closed by the beginning of summer.

Correction: the owner may be looking for an agent to close the lot and charge people for parking. After the city lost in court, the owner's rights of private property have been confirmed and he is looking to find uses for the building and its parking lot. It's also been listed with a local real estate agent for rent/lease, and a cleanup crew will be gutting the place this summer. Once gutted, it will be ready for a "build to suit" rental.

Perhaps in the future the city will learn that working with owners (rather than trying to steal from them) will yield better results.

It is a nice building in a prime location. Maybe they should consider using it as a multi-use building. Example, a small convientent store, and or bank/credit union, and or offices. etc.

The building is still in Utica, which is a tough sell to investors. Utica has too much crime and a city government that has repeatedly shown itself to be the most business unfriendly in the state. Utica has no respect for private property and tries its best to run off any investment by “outsiders”. The building’s owner has had nothing but trouble with Utica’s citizens and its government. Why would he want to do anything constructive with the building?

Becuse the owner would rather let the building rot than do anything with it that would help Utica. I can't disagree with him, Utica is not only a bad investment, but on top of that the city government is too corupt for anyone in their right mind to do business with.

I personaly make sure that new businesses comming to CNY have been warned about Utica. The actions and behavior of the Mayor alone is keeping business away. If it weren't for the County and State buildings, nobody would even go to Utica.

With respect. Is Rome much better? Don't put down Utica. You;re still here arn't you?

Maybe the Utica Club Brewery should invest and put money into it. It would be a good place for them to have small concertsduring the cold winter months.

Yes, Rome is much better. It has small town charm, is clean and the cops don't plant drugs on Black people. We aren't in debt, have a much lower crime and tax rate, and we don't let our historic buildings turn to crap while hassleing private property owners. Business is alowed to succeed or fail on its own without corrupt officials damanding bribes.

On the other hand, Utica is known for its bars, strip joints and crack whores. Not the kind of business that Romans want.

That you Edwin?? Btw, you are uniformed or a liar. The owner was offered up near 500 k and turned it down. He will be held responsible for the buildings demise. And he does not own the whole parking lot.

Owner was offered alot of money for building but turned it down. His loss, someone will get it from the city and restore it. Take that marble off and see the original... Amazing

The offer was for what he paid for it and they retracted the offer due to pubic outrage. Nobody wants to restore that building and the marble is worth a lot less than you think.
