well pizza as we know it anyway.. im sure some old italian lady put a tomato slice on a piece of dough back in 1800 and called it pizza but the pizza we know, the gooey, tomato pie, cheesy, pizza was basically made popular in utica, if you look it up.

Joe's Pizza in Whitesboro is the best, but it's very expensive compared to others. Being good I don't mind paying a little extra, but it's more that a little extra. Oscugnizzo's is great too, more reasonably priced that Joe's.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_pizza

"Pizza first made its appearance in the United States with the arrival of Italian immigrants in the late 19th century and was very popular among large Italian populations in New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Saint Louis . In the late 19th century, pizza was introduced by peddlers who walked up and down the streets with a metal washtub of pizzas on their heads, selling their wares at two cents a chew. It was not long until small cafes and groceries began offering pizzas to their Italian-American communities."

IF you want too look for the keywords, "Utica NY Invented Pizza" you'll see that NOTHING pops up. Not even a comment from the rah-rah Utican misinformationists!(Although, it does have one link to the clammy cheeseless pizza article in Wikipedia)

Hands down, O'Baby's in Washington Mills is the most horrific pizza ever. Tony's in Washington Mills has come back and is right at the top after sucking big time for a few years. Franco's in N. Utica is right there too.

Utica has no good pizza period. To many Sicilians with tomato pie crap. Real Neopolitan pizza is the only way to go. Not gonna find it in Utica. Gino and Joes in Syracuse is the closest place is the closest you will get to here for a good slice.

You clearly have no idea what good pizza is then. 9 out of 10 pizza places in Utica have great pizza. Plus, you always hear how good utica pizza is. Syracuse pizza doesn't get too much play or applause around here. True or false?

BWAAAHAAAHHAAHHAAAA!!!!! Uticans have no idea about pizza. No one nowhere in the state other than Uticans says anything good about Utica pizza. Outside of Utica you only here how bad it is. No good thin crust pizza around. Hell most people I know born in Utica don't even like the pizza.

Exactly! This guy from Queens came up and we were talking about the qualities of Utica Pizza... puffy, pre-made dough... Watered-down sauce... and weird cheese, if it even IS cheese.

Even UTICANS think that Ragu(!!!) has better sauce than most of the locally-made stuff! HAH!
