When Utica National goes out of business in a few years, what will they do with the building? It's prime real estate. Maybe a medical office building?

The best thing for it is to divy it up for the corn hill residents. Doug is a a very giving person and would like to welcome cornhill to his congregation.

How many people are still working at the downtown location? I passed by recently and from the Columbia Street side the first floor appears vacant. On a side note, check out the condition of Columbia Street that was paved not so long ago.

Someone also told me that a portion of the building was sublet to the United way. Is that true?

Is this just another black hole that the taxpayers pitched money into? What kind of tax incentives and grants did Utica National get when they put this building up in downtown Utica? Don't I remember something about 200 good jobs that would turn downtown around? If it wasn't so sad it would be funny how many times the taxpayers of Utica and Oneida County fall for the same old schemes.

There are zero Utica National Employees in that building. It was never needed. UN needed temporary space for an aesbestos removal project to get rid of the aesbestos left after the last 'total' removal contract. Another fail. Instead of renting an available empty space in the buiness park, Doug insised on the new building because he wanted to be known as the guy who revitalized downtown. There were never going to be new jobs, just 200 people transferred from New Hartford. Another fail. There were rumors that they lost the tax advantages because of the deceit. The building is being donated to the United Way to create a tax deduction. Entire project is a FAIL. Doug's way of reducing expenses I guess.

There are NO Utica National employees there? That doesn't sound right. Are you sure of that? Seems like someone in media would have picked up on that. Prove it to me.

Yes. There are some employees downtown. Looks like they will be heading all up to nh at some point. Doug will be looking for commercial business to rent. Currently, united way rents part of it for a dollar. Lol

So I guess I was a little early. According to the downtown employee, the plan is to move the few left back to NH. They keep getting rid of people so there is plenty of space opening up. And $1. rent is giving away the space. If I was wrong, Doug would be on here to correct the misinformation so STFU.

Typical utica scam. Looks great in the paper...raises hope...then drifts away with every other scam in utica.

But they told us that Utica National was bringing 200+ jobs downtown and that it would be transformative. All we would have to do is give them parking at the Radisson and tax credits. They said it would be a major building block in the economic resurgence of downtown and the region.

Does any of this sound familiar? Isn't it the same thing we hear everytime our tax dollars are dumped into these schemes? Stanley Theater Backstage Expansion, Hotel Utica, Piers & Blake..........

Now we're doing it again with the Aud/Comets. The people who bought HSBC bank want a PILOT deal.

How many times do the taxpayers let their elected representatives spend their money on schemes that just never seem to live up to expectations and promises.

It's all a smoke screen by the mayor. Downtown ready to close. HSBC a dead deal, watch and see.

A real heart breaking thread. Many of you appear to be correct: the results of all these projects that burned tax dollars have blown away like dusty snow.

I can almost see myself standing in front of of what was to be the revitalization of downtown with a frozen tear in my eye.

Stay strong.

Don't forget the Schuyer Commons complex. Six jobs at most. Half empty apartments of unhappy residents. And the pilot tax deal also applies to the owners of the $200,000 plus privately owned homes built and sold on the site. If you can afford the sky high rents and home prices pay your fair share of taxes to the bankrupt city.. City snowed by a crook from Albany.

Is that why they can't rent them? Talk to someone who lives there.

The topic is that now downtown Utica is going to end up with another empty building because a fast talker can snow the utica politicians desperate for regentrification just like so many failed projects they have fallen for before. Maybe Two Ton Tom Clark can buy it for $1..
