Patient's Beware! I was misdiagnosed by this nut job and told for a long time that I was a very complex case. He had me on a ton of meds that messed up my entire neurological system and as a result have been told recently that I have irreversible damage as a result of his neglect. PLEASE do yourself a favor. SEEK A SECOND OPINION

Don't know if they are a liar or not, but I can say first hand that my diagnosis was unnecessary. Do you know anybody that doesn't end up with a machine that went in for a test ? Not everybody that snores has sleep apnea requiring CPAP. I would bet that sleep apnea could be diagnosed in anybody. And by the way don't forget the Doctors office is across the hall from the equipment department that sell you the machine for $700 and up.

I was advised by my attorney not to put TOO much out there and since the diagnosis is rare, if he has access to this forum (and who doesn't) I would give away the farm by announcing it here. I will be updating this thread frequently with info to help other people affected by him If you have been diagnosed by him, prove it (like I did) at Upstate in Syracuse. Once they run all the test they need to run, reply to this thread. I will give you the names of ALL the attorneys that WANTED my case. There is no risk....they get paid if they win so its in their best interest.

By the way...With the exception of three girls, his entire staff should also be prepared to get new jobs. They broke the law along with him

I think you should look for a Neurologist - I had to go to Syracuse to get an honest opinion and that same Dr. suggested that I seek legal action

I am a patient there. Was correctly diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. I now use the CPAP machine nightly and have done so for the past two years. It has made a world of a difference in my life AND that of my wife. Dr Levine is not the most outgoing guy I have ever met but he was approachable, answered all questions that I had and was professional. If you want a "friend", buy a dog. I have no complaint with Dr. Levine.

I am glad you are happy, as I said some but not all will be helped. Sleep Apnea is real, and can be helped. My point was not everybody that gets the equipment really needs it. And they get everybody they can on it.

I am a sleep tech and do not work for this guy however I can tell you that insurance will not give you a machine unless you are diagnosed with a diagnostic test. You can't really make up the evidence. I can also tell you that I have heard a lot of our patients from the lab I work for leave our doctor to go see Dr. Levine. He must be doing something right.

I feel for anyone who has been misdiagnosed but I will say that after learning the hard way (because I had a procedure for a non-sleep apnea related issue without getting a second opinion first and it backfired on me), in this day and age you have to be responsible and look out for yourself. I have had more than ten prescriptions written out for me that I CHOSE not to fill. You can make the choice whether you resort to medication or get a second opinion and attempt to use alternate methods first to try to improve your condition.

Doctors are very quick to write up a script and get you out the door, then back in the door when you need more meds. It's all about money making, especially in the Utica area.

However I have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and now use a CPAP machine which has greatly improved my quality of life.

Try seeing Matt LaBella - he's much less arrogant.

If you think it's a Utica thing that doctors are all about making money, then you are on the wrong meds.

I said "especially", not "only". I also said i have refused meds. How sad for a person not to be able to follow such a simple, short statement.

Dr. Levine is a wonderful doctor. He knows exactly what he is doing. Anyone who says otherwise is a whack job himself or has unrealistic expectations.

add me a happy cpap user of five years. Dr. Levine is a little different...but the sleep clinic and use of the cpap machine has changed my life. Don't deny yourself a trip to the clinic for a study. I was not prescribed drugs by him.
