One of you poor lower people who have to pay tribute and kiss the ground the mayor and his entourage walk on. You exist only to enrich the pockets of the elite administration because they are kind enough to let you eat, breath and pay taxed within their city. You are lucky to have such merciful rulers.

The only way to stop this madness is for a tax revolt, nobody pay their property tax, let the city wallow, tax sales of property will not mean anything if there is enough people willing to revolt and not pay the taxes. They are not going to get my $1200 unless they cut it down to 2% or lower..

you know, Pete, if we could only get the taxpayers to cooperate...there's safety in numbers....we all have to pull TOGETHER!

Maybe everyone needs to protest that cops and firefighters can retire in their early forties and collect a pension that equals what their actual salary should be. They put in as much overtime as they can during their last 3 years so their retirement - which is half their salary after 20 years - is close to what their actual salary should be. AND with people living longer now, that means that we, the taxpayer, pay more and more every year to these people. And add health care costs for these retirees, too - and is it any wonder that cities are going bankrupt?

Then if their job is so beneficial - why don't you take the exam and become one yourself?

Maybe because he has some moral fiber and enough self respect not to rob the taxpayers blind, theft after all, whether legal or illegal is still theft.
After all the story of....hey they put their life on the line always works, agreed they do, also agreed they should get decent pay and a decent pension. That's not what we ate talking about though, it does not entitle them to an extortionate pay and pension package and an early retirement only a city worker can afford. What about the taxpayer who worked all their life and retired at 65 on a fixed income who now loses his house because he can not pay constant high tax hikes way above the rate of inflation? Or the family who see wages stagnate or go down with hours cut and then struggle to feed and clothe their children after they pay these extortionate property taxes?
Go ahead and try to tell me that's right at the expense of all the theft and bloated wages in this city. Please feel free to justify what is going on at city hall and tell me how great the mayor is.

See how many turned up at the meeting last night, just a few retired that's all. Palmieri will look at it that he has the backing to get his raise.
Truth is there is no point in protesting he has never listened to the taxpayers. Last time he hiked ten percent there were lots of people speaking out but him and the council ignored it. Not to mention the show of force from all the leaches, the public could barely get in.
He got in only because the vote split three ways, most will figure it is pointless talking when he will be voted out next year anyhow.

This attitude is exactly what have at all levels of government. There is power in numbers and if people get together things can change.

Things like the Tea Party scare the bejeebers out of politicians because it means that people are paying attention and questioning. There is no greater proof of this than the fact that the left wing, most media and many incumbents (including entrenched Republicans like Graham and McCain) try to paint them as extremist crazies. I'm not saying you should agree with the Tea Party or their values. I'm just using them as an example of what happens when voters band together against the status quo.

I for one would like to know how the Chief Fire Marshall has been on sick leave for 2 years plus costing the taxpayers over a quarter of a million dollars and nothing is said by this nit wit mayor or the council. How did he hurt himself, get rid of him, I am sure he could retire instead of just bloodsucking the taxpayers. When I was out for 2 months with a on the job injury they brought me up on charges and I had to go in front of Cornell Maye who was the public safety commissioner. It just goes to show you that it is not what you know, it is who you blow in City Government. This is an outrage and Brooks and Palmieri have the guts to say they can not cut no further in public safety. THEY SHOULD HANG THEIR HEADS IN SHAME.

Your mistake is listening to what Mr. Vescera says on the radio. If you really want to know why didn't you go to the meeting in N. Utica and ask them

That councilman and you have nothing but a vendetta against the fire department. Its obvious you do on here and it was super obvious when Mr. Piersma asked him at least three or four times how to cut the budget and Mr. Vescera went right at the UFD all three or four times, never did he mention any other cuts anywhere citywide. I am all for decreasing the budget and holding a low tax increase, I live and own in the city and choose too.
