You must remember Palmieri has 2 sons in law on the UPD, and council member Colosimo-Testa has a husband on the UFD, so you know they could care less about the already strapped Utica property owner. More people will move out and business minded people will also move away and very few new businesses will arrive. The biggest problem is that this mayor ignores the 2% cap and by doing this he nullifys the extra state aide that Cuomo promised to the municipalities that abide by the cap. This mayor is a one way street and all he cares for is his and his family's welfare, because actually this guy was never too smart when he was a council person and if you check his family history, they have all been on the tit of the taxpayer for decades.

Of course Utica is turning a corner. Into 100% ghettoization and permanent total bankruptcy.

UFD Russ Brooks is 89 years old, the oldest active fire chief in NYS. He is a decorated Vietnam war hero and a decorated UFD firefighter. He has saved 23 firemen by carrying them out of 14 structure fires despite great risk & danger to himself. He makes $118/year as chief and has his own 2014 Escalade at his use on/off duty provided by the city.

Come up with something different to say. You type the same thing over and over about him. Which none of it is close to true

Stop blaming others Palmieri, you are horrible. Save your face and blame the old, please, your are a worse thief than anyone before you. You came into office on welfare and stole the tax payers money anf filled your pocket illegally. Went from a 20 year old car to a tax payers car.

This is outrageous! School taxes, property taxes and sewer, water, blue bags and National Grid. How the hell can anybody afford to own a house in this city. Why should I stay, taxes go up services get cut, and no jobs? I own a single family home, get no assistance, no STAR and can barely survive now.

Our mayor has ignored the tax cap again, I say we all ignore this lastest 9% tax increase and have a organized tax revolt. If enough tax payers refuse to pay on the grounds of unfair taxation and call for a recall of all concilmen and women and a recall of this mayor. we can effect change. I'm going to contact albany and see what legal rights we have as taxpayers to call in the state and put this city under state control.

Why should you stay? Is it for the well maintained streets? Should you stay for the abundance of activities? Should you stay for the weather? I know stay for the great job you have. Or better yet stay for the superb education your children receive. Utica is nothing but a hub for drug addicts and refugees. Word of advice, if you have a house sell it, get what you can and get the hell out. The fact that the main rd in utica is worse than a seasonal road speaks VOLUMES on the authorities that be. Utica is about one brick away from a literal disaster zone. Can the Prez declare Utica a disaster zone?

suggestions:
1. eliminate all cars driven by city employees, they can drive their own and claim the expense on their income tax
2. create an "in lieu of taxes fee" for all city employees that don't live in the city.

the state and county have held the line on taxes, the city can do the same, by the way, where did the money come from for the "promotions"

This is awful. I spoke with 7 people after the news tonight and all putting homes up for sale. I think I am too before I can't get a dime for it.

For one thing, I don't believe the previous poster. I highly doubt that of the so-called '7 people' he/she spoke with that they are ALL putting their homes up for sale. That's a scare tactic. Nobodies going anywhere. They never do. Nobody is moving in the midst of winter. People piss & moan everytime the taxes go up. Nothing is going to change. The taxes will go up next yr, too, and the next & the next. I'll bet the previous poster & the 'nefarious 7' will be boycotting milk when that hits $5 gal.

Get over it!!!.

Tonight Palmieri said he has cut as much as he can. Perhaps it's time to re-think health care premiums and pensions. Are Utica part time attorneys still getting health care?

Why do I have to pay for fat aZz danny labella wannabe cowboys lawsuit. I know he is mentally challenged and couldn't comprehend what was going on but he should have to pay the award and the attorney fees.
