The state keeps telling use how great gay marriage should and will be
what i want to know who will gain from this and i do not mean the gay people.

PS I am starting to see bumper sticks: Marriage is a human right, Not a heterosexual privilege ROFL

You will gain. The State, in its infinite wisdom, will find you a mate and force you into a gay marriage.

Well, at least thats what the opponents are afraid of.

NO what will happen is the gays will brain wash their kids that gay marriage is the only and right style of marriage.
and that heterosexual marriage is abnormal

And you think that heterosexual couples are so outnumbered by gay couples that there will be a substantial change such as that?

Congratulations! A new nutcase reason to oppose it.

I have nothing against gays in anyway. Gay marriage is a different story. Until I see how it will effect us nationally I will not just say yes. Will it effect health insurance cost? How will it effect children long term? Will divorce rates go up. Tons of scenarios. If you want to be in a same sex relationship, by all means go right ahead. Just don't act like those that oppose it are wrong or should feel guilty. Just because I might like having sex with sheep should I force you to feel like its okay too? I can understand that you want to stand on a mountain and proclaim your love for your mate but marriage is out dated even for us heterosexuals.

it's about equality under the law... something our constitution is SUPPOSED to guarantee... and how would the divorce rate between str8's go up if gays were to marry... makes NO sense...

Correction, not divorce rates but rather divorce cost. For gay couples divorce is double because they are twice as dumb for thinking they can do better with the same sex.

The constitution doesn't guarantee anything goes. That same document has a number of restrictions - some arbitrary - as to what people can or can't do. This issue isn't as much about "pursuit of happiness" as it is financial benefits. Wouldn't we all like to have that.

The Constitution establishes the three branches of government and lays out the respective powers of each, as well as the law of the land and the ratification process.

The Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution to show and protect the rights of the individuals and the states (10th Amendment), and to show the limits of the federal government. Any Amendment which denies or dilutes the rights of the individual or the states, or which gives or expands a power of the federal government, is unconstitutional.

Therefore, denying gays the right of marriage is unconstitutional, as is the Defense of Marriage legislation.

1. Marriage between 2 people of any sex shouldn't even be a topic of debate. We are all supposed to be equal. Gays do not brainwash their kids into thinking gay is the only way. Gays would want nothing more than their kids to be happy and hopefully straight. Living gay is not easy for reasons like this!
2. Please do not compare you having sex with sheep as the same thing as gay people having sex. That's not even remotely similar.
3. Being gay isn't a choice, if it was I am sure gay people would much rather be straight and live a less controversial life.

Or what a libertarian would say ... or a Constitutional scholar ... or a patriot .... but your statement is certainly lame.

Why is the government making laws about who can and can't get married? Since most people get married in a religious ceremony, doesn't this violate the separation of church & state>

The 2nd Amendment prohibits the federal government from ESTABLISHING a religion or FAVORING one religion over another. Unless the legislation mandates that organized religions conduct gay marriages, there is no "separation" issue.

the close minded ridiculous and ignorant comments here reflect why our community has such a problem moving forward. Personally, I am all for it, why shouldn't the gays be miserable like most of us heteros. Seriously, equal rights are equal rights..only an insecure man would have a problem with it...and again, if we are so hung up on marriage, we'd better make divorce illegal.

Because your OPINION that it is wrong does not give you the RIGHT to DEPRIVE someone else of their constitutioinally-protected RIGHT.
