I have a dream that union haters will discover they'd be better served spending their time and energy trying to establish unions rather than criticizing them. If they don't, they must plan a career of bending over while their overpaid superiors/administrators ask them to work longer hours, work weekends, work holidays, etc. and fire their asses at the drop of a hat.

I agree but those that don't have on this board prefer to hate instead of improve

All lies. Truth is unions mostly protect the hack who doesn't do their job & that's about it. You barely ever hear of a great employee needing union help. Labor law takes care of the rest of the issues & it's free. No need to pay dues. It isn't 1950 anymore. And btw you can still fire union people and lay them off. Why don't you tell everyone how union dues go in part to political action committees that may or may not agree with your own politics? Why don't you talk about how bargaining means taking care of the most senior fat cats at the top first? Isn't it called "grandfathering?" Rip off & the single most corrupt, crony- filled business going (that's right..it is a BUSINESS not some nice, free worker protection organization). Unions are partially to blame for this ruined economy. Period.

"Lies" sounds like he/she is a one percenter Republican "working" on Wall St. Maybe even a CEO.

Union would not have helped you. By the way, try wrongful termination, gender discrimination, etc. if you have proof those will get you same attention for free. Dept of labor & other agencies are there for those things. You don't need any fat cat collecting dues to do it. They would need proof to defend you too. No, not a CEO. Not even close. I'm pretty much at the middle of my dept working my way up without help or dues. Stop assuming.

"Partially"? You are spending 65% of your taxes on the highest funded public service in the state if not the country.

Unions are outdated and today they only represent the greed of parasites who couldn't do on their own. Dad always called union people "The Cancer" now you know why.

Funny that you recite the law yet know nothing about it. In NUS you are an employee at will. That means unless you have a union your employer can get rid of you for any reason they want. So tomorrow your boss can say "hey my employee is a dumbass trying to be a lawyer on the Internet, I like that he is ignorant and hates unions but anyone that stupid cant work for me" and fire you!!!

Unions are just another form of government. Pay us and "we'll protect you". All at the same time union heads make nice salaries managing a group of servants to their wiill. You become nothing but a pawn in their negotiations. No need for unions in this country. Do your job and do it well and there's no need for "protection".

white collar workers, lawyers and educated admininstrators do not need unions. Most people who earn over 100k a year do NOT need a union.

Job safety is already regulated at this point by the government.

Don't bother yelling truth down into the hole. They are a prison economy with an extra dose of public safety worship. That's fame and fortune for them they will attack you, call you infant baby names and tell you you live on welfare in retort. That's all they got I guess.

You are correct, but when you are told to do something (unsafe) or if you dont you will be let go. Good luck having the goverment get your job back. Oh and pretty much forget getting a job in that field because all the companies talk.

If you say this is incorrect get your head out of the sand.
This happens all the time!!!

There are plenty of government agencies and public or private attorneys to help in these situations. Also, it just doesn't happen. Just another line fed by union heads to the faithful paying servants who pay those union heads their salaries through their dues. Unions are archaic in today's world.

If only you knew what you are talking about. Look around, mining industry, utility industry, contractors etc..
There have been many studies done on the safety aspect. Most of them shade toward unions being a safer place to work. Along with higher wages, better benefits, and better work hours.
So keep typing on your computer and be careful of paper cuts!!
Let the real men and women keep your lights on, the water flowing, your streets safe, battle the fires etc.
