Oneida County Sheriff’s deputies said that at about 2:20 a.m. on Oct. 28, six men allegedly broke into a trailer at the Wilber Mobile Homes located on Old Floyd Road with bats and at least one gun and demanded money.

FLOYD —

A mobile home invasion that went awry has landed six men in Oneida County Correctional Facility.

Oneida County Sheriff’s deputies said that at about 2:20 a.m. on Oct. 28, six men allegedly broke into a trailer at the Wilber Mobile Homes located on Old Floyd Road with bats and at least one gun and demanded money.

A male victim, who police did not name, ran from the trailer and into his pickup truck. As he drove away, a suspect smashed one of the truck’s windows, striking the driver in the head. The victim drove the truck from the residence to Rickmeyer Road where he waited for police to arrive, deputies said.

Two other victims also fled but found themselves in the back of a pickup truck being driven by a suspect. A female victim grabbed the steering wheel, forcing the truck off of Old Floyd Road and into a ditch, police said.

Two of the victims were treated for their injuries and one was transported to an area hospital by ambulance where he was treated and released, police said.

The following people were arrested:

* Joseph N. Salerno, 21, Mary Street, Frankfort.

* Daniel J. Matys, 23, Linch Avenue, Utica.

* Chad R. Cherubin, 23, Carrollton, Texas.

* Brandon M. Wilson, 20, Kernan Street, Utica.

* Travis J. Anderson, 21, Taylor Avenue, Utica.

* Robert J. Reynolds, 26, Route 69, Oriskany.

The suspects are each charged with a single county of first-degree burglary, a felony.

Salerno, Matys and Cherubin, were arrested at the scene, arraigned and sent to Oneida County Jail, Oriskany, on $50,000 bail.

Wilson was arrested later that day, arraigned and sent to Oneida County Jail, Oriskany, on $50,000 bail.

Anderson was arrested on Oct. 31, arraigned and sent to Oneida County Jail, Oriskany, on $50,000 bail.

Reynolds was arrested on Nov. 1, arraigned and sent to Oneida County Jail, Oriskany, on $50,000 bail.

A sheriff’s canine was used to help track the suspects.

The sheriff's office is continuing to investigation the incident.

as horrific and horrible that this happened, and how each and everyone of us are basically vulnerable to this type of situation unfolding in our homes given the lack of jobs..drugs...economic hard times.. or whatever may prompt people to do such a thing it really boggles the mind that this post was as far down the list as it was and at this time only 2 posters prior to myself..we should be talking about this and measures to keep us safe..what and how to possibly react, just talking so others dont think this is an alternative to getting what you dont have...home invasions are becoming more and more of a thing in this area..am so glad to hear the occupants of the home were able to get out before any more harm was done to them.we are living in a different kind of world that what i grew up in.desperate measures for desperate times.. i hope the justice systems can and will step up and an example is forthcoming to be set.

if that would happen to me the first thing i would think when the door is broken down is that their were going to kill me, and at that point i would be grabbing my shotgun , the fact is i have a gun in each of my rooms in my house ,it would be bad for those 6 if they came for me

i dont own a gun and would proably die of a heartattack! can only imagine the pure panic of being awakened from a sound sleep and trying to figure out what is going on while trying to scramble for safety. just wanna ask these guys why? how did you choose this house? divide the money up that you thought you were gonna get 6 ways leaves you with how much? i think i know one of the intruders family and my heart goes out to them for the scrunity that others will give them or what they will be hearing people talk about their son! guys what would you do if someone did that to your loved one? the ending that night could have been so much worse, altho i can only imagine the sleeping people will probably never sleep soundly for a long time

Didn't he just get arrested a little while ago for another crime he committed? Both parents are druggies - he is apparently following in their footsteps.

Too bad they're all whit trash like you retard lol! One of them is a cops nephew. Cops are all so wonderful! I'm sure the "top cop in charge of the Situation" will bend an ear for the kid.

Above post left by ignorant blind Utica Police Employee / who now slipped and admits he is the rabid Ray Jadwick sock puppet supporter.

Doesn't realize how ignorant he looks openly defending police corruption and racism. You can see for your self he ALWAYS starts racist rants almost IMMEDIATELY anytime someone

comments on police corruption! Defends even the most obvious cases of police criminality and corruption - obviously a rabid siren fanboi cop like a volunteer fire geek on crack.

As you can see for yourself. Make your own conclusions.

Rants online all day from his UPD computer and eats and ponders free government dole cheese courtesy the taxpayers while crying that it can't get a raise because of "koons" and "welfare people" and even "engineers" and "lawyers" who actually earned their living.

The whine is just a cry for help because it doesn't even know what a $490,000 house looks like let alone ever have a shot at paying one off. Feels bad for itself because it thought make-believe public service was a shortcut to riches fame and superherodom. Pay it money it doesn't not earn and respect and idolize its supreme self-appointed manliness or it will abuse or accuse you.

Support your local police! They singlehandedly, or underhandedly keep the nys employment rate up!

I'm sure it was revenge of some sort. Thing is, kids get messed up because of parents and this is what happens. I know M luvs her son Dan, but the life he had sucked. She gets married & has Dan. Cheats on her husband and marries the new guy and has another son. Cheats on this hubby, marries another new guy. Dan's real father was not there for him after the divorce. The new guy is .....but Dan has to lose him to divorce now too. Dan's step dad then moves away bc he is heart broken, comes back for his "real" sons b-day, gets emotionally upset over everything again, drinks and dies on his motorcycle. Now Dan loses his step-dad forever ...again, this was a person whom he loved very much.

The victims are the children. Dan needs help, not jail time. He can change his life around. It sucks when the kids grow up, because then they are just looked at as trash. This is how it all starts people. The right thing to do is character education, parental help, tougher divorce laws. Oh, I don't really know, but ....something has to happen to stop the cycle. God help them all.

You have GOT to be kidding. You're admitting you know 3 armed home invasion felons and telling other people that they're trash? Let me guess you were born in that redneck of the woods weren't you?

I like how you somehow *big word warning* differentiate between the three retards you know and the three retards you don't so you "can't speak for them" too? Why not? Are you that stupid you can't show the other defendants some love? Ha ha ha! that you don't understand that Any uninvolved sane person reading your rant knows someone who comes up and insults anyone who reads about this and then claims their the *three good ones* is some king of fkn moron. You, your wacko hillbilly manson wanabees and your ridiculous rationalizations should all go fk themselves. Is that too trashy for your virgin eyes to handle?

He is a drug dealer and there were drugs on the premises just in a different trailor.two victims did not jumo in the back of the truck.that was a lie! The only reason he didn't get in trouble for the drugs is because he cooperates in order to get other people.that is why he left his residence to meet the police somewhere else.
