Not only am I friends with brian we worked together at upstate for a little over a year. Brian is a really good installer, he got married and started a home install business down south. One of the main reason brian left ny was because of people talking bad about others, just like on thess post on this site. I have been in this industry for 12 years now left CSW for a couple years and worked at two differant shops, Upstate Mobile And Trevisani & Laporte . The only info I can give you is :
1. how long a shops been in business should matter. there alot of people who think they can start up a winter business rake in ton's of money then close for the summer. well if there not open in the summer what if you have a issue. how do you get it fixed.
2. Anyone can say they know what there doing, but take info they give you and confrim it by going on the internet an checking the info.
3. Range is a big factor . If one shop tells you its 129.99 for 3000ft but four other shops tell you there starters are 179.99 for 1500ft. theres something wrong anyone can tell you anything verfiy the range by checking on websites and chatrooms. My two sense you can not get a 3000ft starter for 129.99 if the product is registered by the fcc the lic for 3000ft cost to much money to sell it at such a low price.
4. Call your dealer were your car came from ask the sale people who they send there cars to.
I would like to comment on a post that had a problem with are module warranty. All module have a one year warranty , thats at all shops. Custom sound offers a lifetime labor and car starter brian warranty, and a two year warranty on remotes. we are the only store who does a two year warranty. also we compustar remote starters #3 nmost sold in us and #1 sold in canada. The customer who had the problem I remember very well. But a Car starter 3 1/2 years a ago. Bypass went bad so a new was needed. Gave customer choice of 39.99 mod with one year waranty in house built or 69.99 mod made by ads idatalink one year warranty never had one fail. customer was upset and never came back to have fixed. there was maybe a chance the customer did not understand me or my staff and I am sorry for that but please if any one has a issue with CSW please feel free to give me call .
This reply is not what I experienced. I was there in person and I was not given these options. First, I was told that I had a lifetime warranty, They did not say there were exceptions. The receipt refers me to the documentation that comes with the starter. I was given no manual for the module so as a customer, what would you expect? Second, when I went there and offered to pay money I was told that the part would not have any warranty. This was not a vague conversation, but very crystal clear. Third you say no installer offers a lifetime warranty on this part. I have one! So as well thought out as your post is, if it was half true I would be on here giving a positive review of custom sound instead of what I did post.
I hope you do change and that other customers will benefit from my bad experience.

Hey paul why u so into my life?? Are mad because I have such a great life and have achieved alot of sucsess in the last couple of years. You are probaly the paul I know who still lives at home with his mom, chases little girls around, tells people he owns a house in higby hills but that can't go in becuase the floors are getting done? You know who you are ??? So do I. You been living under mommys roof for how long now? Are you mad because a 31 year like me has made great strides in life trew had work and dediction. Why don't you stop hiding behind a fake name and if you got a problem with me call me . we can handle it like adults. Yes I will agree I was A punk. But I have grown up greatly in last couple of years. I have paid a big price for my old actions and now I am on the right path because of hard work and a great family to stand behind me. I'm sorry for you who is jealous of me , but don't be . HARD WORK WILL GET YOU AHEAD.

And yes I did have a store it was only open for about four months before a store destroyed my inventory. I was paid for iventroy but it would cost to much and take to long to rebuild. After about six months I was wrongfully accuse ofsetting the fire . after the facts were put on the table charges were dismissed. Check your local records if you don't agree. then I went to work for T&l then for Brian Then went Back to T&l and finally came back to CSW. Just wanted to clear the air.
Another note PAUL If you are jealous now wait to you see what I get this SUMMER wow , Maybe ur mom will cosign for you

Just beware they take shortcuts during installs. The did a starter on my fathers truck and never put the hood kill switch in which is a fail safe device so the engine can't start with the hood open. The starter works great, but you need to make sure it's disable before working under the hood otherwise you'll end up disabled!!!
Jus so you know no shops in upstate ny use hood pins anymore with all the salt used on the roads the pins usually stop working after a couple months.

Big Apple Music advertises a 1500 feet range for the first car starter on their page for $219.95. You can see it at http://www.bigapplemusic.com/starters.php

On another site, that car starter is advertised as having a 1000 feet range. You can see this at http://www.cartunes.com/vendors/astro/rs903.h...

I have no beef at all kiddo. I don't know a person at that place. I noticed this post and it reminded me to look into getting a new car starter. I'm thinking maybe BestBuy. I tried to look up Big Apple Music, but am wearing about their advertisement. You can't even click on the item for more info.

Wow, that's telling right there! Most new vehicles have plastic hood pins you can tap and ones that don't you can get pins that won't corrode. If someone does get seriously injured, the install shop would be held liable.
Actually the shop is not liable nor the owner of the vehicle. There have been serval case of this as long as the instaltion shop includes a warning sticker then all resposabilty goes to the person working on vehicle. Of cousre if a car has a factory hood pin then our shop always hooks into it. But only about 25%of cars come preinstalled with hood pins.

It says keyless entry costs extra. WTF? How much extra? That's like saying cheese doesn't come with your pizza unless you pay extra.

You compared what Big Apple listed as the range to what another company listed as the range. Obviously the other company doesnt specialize with astro starters, if so they would know the range and so would you.

http://astroflex.com/index.php...

Anytime you want to know the range, go to who makes the car atarters website and check yourself, it will tell you if the place selling the starter is full of sh*t or not!

Hands down big apple beats out all these other places

Remembers .. No one cares that you bought an lcd and plasma and no one cares about your guitar. One more thing, the owner is different from the music to the car audio/starter store.

Maybe you didnt understand the post, it was supposed to be about car starters not your sob store about your stupid guitar.

So to you guys who say Big Apple is such a good place, how come their website gives you a price on car starters and in fine print it states that remote door lock entry is extra? How much extra? Seems like they're charging enough to include it. I got mine installed in Rome for $220.00 and it included keyless door and trunk entry on the same remote.
