Only the military and police need to have weapons, they will protect us. Everyone else can have BBQ guns

Harvard, how are you on the 1st, 4th and 5th ammendments? Are those really needed today too?

Only newspapers need freedom of speech.

Only criminals need the right of freedom from unreasonable searches.

And why do we need Catholic churches? Can't they all share the Presbyterian churches?

The 2nd amendment is a relic from a time when society was polite and weapons were far less powerful than the ones available today.

No one back then could even imagine weapons of today. The right to bear arms did not and does not mean automatic and semiautomatic weapons. It's time to clear up that misconception and outlaw them. You want a musket? Ok!! I'll give you that. And THAT was what the forefathers were referring to.

Oh, and BTW, NO ONE is coming for your guns. Quit the shit and be responsible.

Are you crazy?! The Second Amendment is the only thing that prevents the King of England from coming to your house and pushing you around.

Also, I really love when gun nuts talk about how gun owners are peaceful, law-abiding and responsible - and then in the next sentence talk about how if a federal agent arrived at their house to confiscate their weapons they would murder them.

Not true. It gave citizens the right to the same arms as the military at that time.

Sorry if we feel strongly about our rights. I personally would hate to harm another person. But if they come to my home and try to infringe on my rights. God help us all.

The only reason the government allows us our freedoms is because of the second amendment. Once citizens lose their right to bear arms, they will lose their freedom and liberty. I suggest that all people who do not like the second amendment taht they move to a country that does not allow citizens to bear arms.

I've been a law-abiding gun owner (handguns included) for over 30 years. I have yet to commit a crime. So why should I be forced to turn in my guns?

Police are the first to admit that they cannot protect citizens. They would have to have a cop sitting in every home 24/7 in order to protect them.

The military cannot protect us from common criminals. By law, they are not allowed to operate in continental U.S. and their function is to conduct war, not play policeman.

The concept of "need" is entirely unrelated to rights. We do not possess the right bear only arms we need just like we do not possess freedom to speak only when we need to speak.

Exactly. It is not the right of the govt to determne what i need or do not need. I cant always get what i want...i understand that. But who is Rep. Pelosi or pres. Obama to say what i need?

Ask the German Jews, Poles, Gypsies and whoever else Hitler slaughtered how they felt about the government disarming them. Or maybe ask the average Mexican citizen how he or she feels about being completey helpless to defend yourself against armed thug drug cartels. Or perhaps the Chinese, Cambodians, Guatemalans, Rwandans, The Turks, Ugandans, and Russians. All told, in the 20th century alone, over 170,000,000 people in these countries were killed by their own governments AFTER they were DISARMED by their governments.
If you are concerned with the amount of people that die from gun related incidents, here are a few deaths per year statistics for you, compiled from the Centers for Disease Control, The FBI, and the US Federal Government :
Tobacco use - 529,000
Medical errors - 195,000
Alcohol abuse - 107,400
Motor vehicle accidents - 34,485
Unintentional falls - 24,792
Firearm homicides - 11,493
So if we are to infer from your arguments that guns are dangerous and should be outlawed, then perhaps we should outlaw going to the doctor, driving a vehicle, and falling.
I will not give up my firearms, nor will I register them, and yes, if Obama/Feinstein/Schumer/Cuomo/ et.al. want them, they will have to take them by force. I don't know too many law enforcement officers who would be unwilling to reach retirment age to follow those orders.
If you want to pick a fight, there is a whole lot more of us than there are of you.

You can keep your guns. The only thing that they want to do is outlaw the manufacturing and selling of semiautomatic and automatic asssult weapons. Can't you grasp that concept?
