Does anyone know where there are any pictures or records of the this unique drill team? I have been searching everywhere for information on this group. They were great and brought a lot of energy to a parade whereever they performed.

Yeah, they were always the best part of the parade. I think of the of the Taylor's tried to start the group again a while back. Wish they still going! I think a guy named Joe started the origianl group, can't remember his last name!

OMG, that is correct, thanks for the info. For the life of me, I could not remember his last name..I was going through the alphabet last night thinking if it might trigger something. LOL, it's tough getting old!
It was nice to see people remember them. Like another poster commented, they can probably never be replaced. Wish someone had kept them going.
Sad to think that Utica was not very integrated back then, yet EVERYONE love them.

They were good. I think Byrd's son has a record deal now.

I remember them from the great parades Utica used to have. When the parades would pause temporarily you were treated to quite a performance if you were fortunate enough to be in the right spot. I think the Screaming Eagles as well as the local drum corps gave a lot of inner city teenagers a place to go rather than wandering the streets. It also taught them self-discipline and teamwork as someone already stated. It's unfortunate that things like this aren't around today. Maybe instead of roundabouts, water front parks and parking lots we should be investing more in our youth. That's just my opinion.

Probably NOT, you are very ignorant.
The Byrd's are good people.
Why do so people always have to put some negative comment that has NOTHING to do with the original posting. The posted topic was about the memories of Uticans that were lucky enough to have seen the Screaming Eagles back in the day. Apparently you were not that fortunate.
