Burgers Dry Cleaners
Wrinkled

We have brought our dry cleaning and alterations to Burgers for years, but yesterday was the end. Took in 4 pair of pants to be IRONED and she says $18.00. WTF,$18.00? On top of the outrageous price she was rude and got pissed when I said forget it.

Worse of all, the great seamstress who was there has now left. I would love to know where she went as she as great and did alot of work for us. Anyone know where she went?

Took the pants to Jet in Yorkville and it was $12.00. Absolutely no reason to return to Burgers and hope other don't either.

Elizabeth was the best. I heard her and her husband split up and he keeps the cleaners. Which is exactly where she should take him.

You can't iron your own clothes? Wow, talk about LAZY!!!!!

They should charge $18, its called a laziness fee for all the morons who can't do it themselves!

My wife took a coat there about a year ago to be dry cleaned. When she picked it up, the color had run and the girl at the counter said she told us before it was dry cleaned that that might happen. This customer got absolutely no satisfaction; we maintained if we had been told, we would not have left it. On top of ruining the coat, they also insisted we pay for the drycleaning. Haven't been back there since that happened. We had been good customers up until that time but because of the attitude of the young woman as well as the owner of the place, we decided to take our business elsewhere.

And Bum, some folks have professional jobs/careers and really don't have time (and can afford) for this. Many items have to be drycleaned which means you can't wash in the machine as well as having problems ironing items with a home iron. Dry cleaners have professional tools for this. Are you trying to put all those hard working dry cleaners out of business?

Now you know why he raised the rates. Divorced women suddenly lose the ability to support themselves.

Hey Don, maybe we should say, hey burger's because it sounds like you're probably them, It's a 33 1/3% increase in price. That's what wrinkled is saying. It's not the $6 but the fact that it's 33 1/3 higher!! He's right, it's a rip off.

Also, many people, in all walks of life, on occassion will pony up for a more professional look. It's really wasn't the issue it was the original fact that it was so much higher (be it a $1) over what they were before and what others charge.

I thought the Bergers you were referring to was on Oswego St. The original poster said he took his pants to be pressed and I'm assuming not cleaned. $4.50 a pair to be pressed is steep but any so called career person should have better time management skills and perhaps on a Sunday afternoon iron his pants for the week.

From what I understand she isn't working. Will probably be able to retire with what she gets out of her share of the business. I heard the husband spends a lot of time with the botle.
