Years ago, the family would buy a case. You can bet your apron, we won't be buying more than the 3 boxes!
go to the cookie aisle at dollar general,$1.85 (or so) a box, tastes the same and same varieties. And you can get them all year.

I came across this thread while researching where the cookies were made. The Peanut Butter Sandwich cookies are really good this year and I was hoping to find out what changed. Instead just stopping at my normal 2 boxes, I actually went back to their table and bought 4 more!Oh the calories!!I've eaten an entire box while writing this I might add.
Instead of learning something about the cookies and where they are made, I end up reading this collection of ridiculousness about how you'll get less and like it.How pathetic! Is this what you teach your Girl Scouts?
It's really simple people, its about fundraising and the cookies are the product used as an enticement to people who otherwise wouldn't contribute to yourfundraising effort. If they suck, you sell less and, subsequently, raise less money. If they taste GREAT, you sell more.Period! Its that simple. If your customers are complaining, you don't tell them to suck it up. You listen to them and go after your vendor to demand better!
If you can't grasp these basic market concepts then, please just stay in the kitchen. Also, you should avoid voting booths at all costs. Why?Well, because you're a brainless ass-clown, thats why.Sorry, there's just no other way to put it.
All I've read here are excuses for accepting mediocracy. Sounds a lot like our local school districts! Am I'm seeing some kind of correlation between these two groups?Maybe......
Don't get me wrong, it's not my suggestion that its OK to be a cheap-ass and claim that I want my cookies at a discount it for free. What I'm suggesting is if the Girl Scouts want to sell something then great!Just sell something worth selling.Otherwise, put the cookies away and just stand in front of Walmart and ask for cash.If you're really only getting 40 cents per box like someone here suggested, that may be a more profitable alternative anyway. The bottom line is this, no matter what the cause, no matter what the market, if you make a better product, you sell more. Hmmm, sounds like capitalism to me......Correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't that one of the lessons you're trying to teach these young women? How business and capitalism work??
Oh, and one more thing.I have a spell checker you jerk-off.How aboutyou show me some calculus? No?How about anything, even the slightest bit useful like, economics? No?Didn't think so.- Shut the hell up.

Definitely pathetic. This isin't walmart, they sell them for their cause, to help the girl scouts. If they were 7.00 a box, I would still buy them, its not like they are just asking for a donation, your getting something for the money.

What cheap clowns.

You people are stupid. Cookies $3.50, Girl Scout troop gets 50¢ per box. You do the math. Complete rip off!! Just donate $10 and the troop gets it all.

It's a fundraiser! The reason you have a fundraiser is to make money. If they sold them for a dollar a box they would have to sell a whole lot more to see a significant profit. Next time you sell something for a fundraiser, candy, etc. ask yourself if it's worth it. Probably not because it's a FUNDRAISER!

You stupid ass, did you read anything I wrote? THEY ONLY MAKE 50¢ A BOX ON THE F**KING COOKIES!!!!! If you sell candy for $2 a bar your organization makes $1 profit on each.

A much better alternative to buying their cookies would be to just stick your head in a can of Crisco and start chowing down. You will save money, calories and saturated fat that way.

BTW, virtually all of the profit from the cookies goes to support the CEO and other employees. The girls reap no benefits directly from selling them.

I don't agree with many things on topix, but I agree. The price stayed the same and the cookies got smaller and there were less of them. I usually bought like 10 boxes a year minimum but I am disappointed from the huge change and not even letting the public know. I would rather the price goes up to $5.00 a box if they stayed the same size.

Before all of you get going on this, take a look at the salaries of the CEO all the way down to the secretaries. That is what you are paying for. VERY LITTLE goes to the girl scouts themselves.
They use these little girls to make a profit.

Instead of them making a big 1 penny donation, just give them a check. Otherwise, you are not helping them as you might. These poor girls are exploited!

You guys are bitching a lot. >.>

I get what the organization is for, and I would donate at any time, but I personally, bought a few boxes of cookies. Though I am not complaining about the price, I feel a bit shorthanded on what was given. I had some with barely any cookies in them. I am not complaining about the money. If they wanted more, I would give it. But I would at least wish for full boxes in return. You know? It's like paying for a bag of chips and getting a bag of air + some chips.

By all means, if getting a full box would mean paying more, I would do it. The cookies are very good, I just feel bad when I don't get what I expect on the amount. I recognize it is a fundraiser, but I would like a full box in exchange for my money. After all, they are very good. And getting the cookies themselves sometimes take time. I'd at least want to know how much I am getting per box.

The Cookie project is meant to do more than just raise money for the troops and the National Organization. It is meant to teach the girls some basic responsibility, to make them feel they are making an effort to improve their organization. They have to sell the cookies, collect and keep track of the money, and turn in sales reports and cash on a timely basis. In addition, the table sales give them a chance to get exposure for the troops and deal with people. Teaching them to work for something instead of stand there with your hand out for nothing. I support the Girl Scouts, and buy each year from my granddaughter.
