To the people of RCIL, trust us from Iowa, she doesn't value what your supervisors say either. She may not want to hear from the front line staff, but she won't listen to any supervisors either. Some agree with her to survive, others end up beaten down like you. Like you, we saw her gross incompetence early on. Unfortunately, as a government facility with her superiors half way across the state, they couldn't see it. The community did not support her. She did not shop in our community, nor did she participate in community events, shoot she even drove a car with Florida plates the whole time she was here. She is a micromanager, and if you look up the definition of a micromanager, you will see it fits Z to a tee. She is in over her head. Find sympathetic board members you can trust. What about your previous CEO Burt, can he help? Otherwise, document and record conversations. Band together and don't back bite, her goal is to beat down and divide and conquer. And, don't underestimate the power of prayer. St Jude is the patron saint for desperate and hopeless causes. God Bless!

Hi all, just letting you know what had happened before..my friend went to HR because She felt she was being bullied by a manager. She was looking for guidance from Molly...later that day she was dismissed. Please be careful. You need to think about where you will take the information you document. Dont make a mistake and take it to Molly! She is two faced. You may want to look into a union while your at it. Good luck!

This type of situation is where staff will face a roadblock. How can anyone feel " safe" when it is these very people who are in alignment with the new director? This will most likely have to be addressed externally. The board has an obligation to address concerns that it's members may have. A $10 membership may be the starting point to force their hand and to be heard.

We have no recourse, who can we speak to if HR functions this way? Is this legal?

Our recourse is the Board themselves. Members, that is anyone who has payed the $10, should be able to have a say. They have to at least hear members concerns, unless the membership means nothing.

Speak to Union reps, NY state department HR (not facility HR), investigative reporters for newspapers, and your facility's board. Contact a newspaper reporter who has written positive articles about your facility in the past. Write your concerns into this Topic discussion. Tell others about this blog. Write a letter to your congressman. As to legal? Probably need to hire an attorney to find out. None of what is happening is nice, fair, or ethical. But legal is another question.

Question for GRC, did you incur " salary adjustments" under her reign? That was mentioned as something she was considering doing here. That will surely drive people away. What about years of experience, loyalty and hard work? Surely becoming clear not appreciated, I can't believe this is happening.

Sometimes it takes awhile to get a complete and thorough grasp of the scope of the problem. The next step is to assess your options, figure out who you can trust, and where and when to take action. Remember, the staff at RCIL had authentic and inspiring leadership for over 30 years. The reign of Velveeta hit everyone like a sucker punch. No one wants to lose their job,but no one wants to endure the reign of this pathetic passive aggressive without end. Don't sell the staff short. There is no road map to deal with a situation like this one. All I can say is thank God they have the support of the Glenwood staff that can give them invaluable insight and info to deal with the big cheese.

One of the greatest days of my life was the day I read Ziva's letter stating she was leaving to take the job in NY. I almost feel guilty because I wanted to warn all of you in NY what was coming. (I was affraid to say anything for fear she would stay.) The day she told GRC she was leaving I actually felt a huge black cloud lift from atop Glenwood. I have never worked for anyone as incompident as the Dragon Lady. Good luck NY and we feel for you. Stick together. She will dig the hole soon enough if you stick together and document.

Be aware that Zvia has a Facebook account. She makes infrequent entries. Word was when at GRC, she used the account to "check out" staff. So did Supervisors and Managers. Be careful what you say to friends in Facebook. Even if you think your privacy settings cover you. Don't count on it. Best practice is to say nothing about work on Facebook.

I hope, as I'm sure many do, that the decision to be here is not going to be a bad one. Options as to how to proceed should things continue to spiral downward will surely be addressed by concerned staff who have strong roots here. The culture of this agency has always complimented the Mission and Philosophy, there is a passion here. Also, she is not on vacation.

Trust us from here, things will continue to spiral downward. There is no progress or moving forward with a micromanager at the helm. She is too caught up in finding all the wrongs which keeps her from ever having a vision to move forward. She will have hair brained ideas, and if you go against the nonsense, you will suffer. Choose your battles for your own sanity if you want the job badly enough to stay. Z and vacation? she spent a lot of time in her native Florida when here, along with a couple trips home to Israel. Way way more time than what vacation time she would have ever earned when here. It was wonderful while she was gone, but h*$! to pay when she returned. She was convinced that when the cat was away, the mice played, and was always looking to find something you did wrong in her absence. And by what you did wrong, remember you need permission for everything you do now, that is something not to forget as she is the authority on everything and if you have any independent thought process or display any professional competency, watch out you will be knocked back into place. And to the question before about what she looks like? When you come across a person looking at you with complete disgust and disdain, you will know you have met the big cheese. I hope for you that your board will oust her quickly when they learn of how she treats staff and you won't suffer for three and a half years as we did.

What is your salary adjustment issue? Are staff not receiving raises this year or is your pay being reduced? Glenwood is a government facility covered by a union contract with a set pay scale per job classification, this is state wide, Zvia could not change that, although she probably would've if she could've.
