The Supreme Court didn't rule against affirmative action. It ruled that it had no power to overturn state elections. In Michigan an amendment to the state constitution was past that bans affirmative action in admissions to the state’s public universities.

The interesting part I think was that while 6 justices agreed with this, Justice Sotomayor in her dissent showed what kind of justice she is by disregarding the constitution in favor of an emotional argument.

Bigger picture.
What is it that she and the other left leaning justices don't get about the US Constitution being the law of the land. It says what it says and doesn't say what it doesn't say.

Liberals/communists could give a rats ass about the constitution. Agreed.

The decision said that it is up to the states to decide how they wanted college admissions to be affected by race. If they want affirmative action to affect college admissions they can, if they don't want it, they don't have to do it. They left the final decision to the individual states.
