A Utica man faces charges after crashing into traffic light poles, city police said.

At about 2 a.m., police and firefighters responded to Memorial Parkway at Genesee Street, where they found an injured David Guido Jr., 26, of James Street, inside his vechile, officials said.

The vehicle ran over several bushes and knocked down light poles, including traffic lights, police said.

Debris from the crash struck a nearby building and knocked out several windows, police said.

Guido was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, both misdemeanors, police said. He also was issued several traffic tickets.

Another 'sports winner'!

How many examples of sports failures and addicts do people need before they start getting wise?

Utica School District must be very happy with their decision to replace Dave Guido as baseball coach with his son.
There are never enough bad decisions made in this school district by their administration.

He is no "kid". People will never learn not to drink and drive. However, with that said, I do hope that he recovers. Any one of us could have a loved one in that situation. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Pathetic rationalizations. It "couldn't have happened to any of us" asshole. Not everyone is a shallow thrillseeking utican wannabe who needs to drink to feel like a man and then go drive. End of story. So typical of these "coach people: and ridiculous pursuits that drag your educations and lifestyle down.

You people that just sit on this site and attack people because it makes you feel like a better person are truly pathetic. You literally go on multiple topics on this forum just to bash people. For what? Who are you complaining to?? No one but people who like to read idiotic post/topics and morons actually read your comments. You aren't making a difference in any public forum, or getting recognized for how many masters degrees you have. Your opinion goes as far as this ridiculously hilarious website.

Touched a nerve hmmm? What does this have to do with the true facts that Davey Gweedo got a dwi and a lifetime title of wimpass driver and drunk driver? If Davey hit my kids he wouldn't be in an icu he would have his neck stapled to the sidewalk with lead sooner or later no matter how far he could swat a ball.

He should pull through, ok. No brain damage, just swelling. Induced coma because he was uncooperative at the scene, and in hospital. Punched his buddy at Varick bar when he tried to take his keys.

You mean "No NEW, NON-congenital brain damage?" Wow! Who suspected "induced coma" could ever be used as an effective treatment for "utican swollen head mouth" legally?! How's that catscratch on his buddy's shin?

Wow, this is an interesting insight.
I also notice a lot of sympathy on this thread.
I always say the ones stopped by police are lucky, because an accident is so much worse.
With designated drivers and kind cabbies, I think(?) drunk driving is down from around 20 years ago.
I know I was careless as a young driver.
