Did you get your letter yet requesting huge sums of money in addition to the tuition costs for the building fund? How much are you going to "Pledge?" What happens if I don't? Do my kids get automatic C's if I don't pony up? What next will they want? The deed to my house or the title to my car. bullshit!

Grow up. You don't have to give. Stop your whining and complaining & be thankful your child has such a wonderful school to go to.

I agree. My daughter graduated from ND, and my son will be a junior this year. Each did exceptional well and I think the tuition and extra pledges are well spent and have a direct impact on the the students success.

I'll bet the soul brothers that get a free ride don't contribute a dime to the fund much less pledge. All that 'free ride' bs needs to be stopped.

We contributed $5500.00 to the building fund 4 years ago when the plans were first unveiled. When no construction ever happened I asked where our contribution went and was told that Sister had put it into her 'discretionary ' fund and it had been spent on janitorial supplies--you know--detergent, mops, buckets, etc.
After that I decided no more. Apparently you can contribute to any cause you want but Sister has the final say on where the money goes. She could have used it for Red Lobster dinners if she wanted to and no one would have been the wiser.

I've heard Sr. Anna Mae likes to pluck chickens and fleece sheep during her free time and that she incorporates her technique into running the school. "Picked clean like a plucked chicken" and "Fleecing is good for the soul" are samplers mounted behind her desk.

Get your children the fuck out of ny. All they teach there is unjustified arrogance, narcissism, drug use, supoerhyped "Neanderball contests" and by example: Mediocrity, lower-income middle class values and failure, corked in with fear and guilt by religious hypocrisy.

I think it's astonishing that any parent would subject their offspring to elitist poor failures trying to look "wealthy" and teach them from a book "facts" that simply can't be called "facts". Has anyone ever sat and listened to these kids talk? Proctards and ND and Wboro kids? It's like listening to vapid users babble like most CNY people they interrupt eachother in circles!

I guess it's lost on them that none of the schools ever produced anyone of serious note, values or abilities except to hear them tell it.

I wish so much I could send my kid there. No way wife and I can afford it. We do ok, but far less than people around here. He is a top notch student and a phenominal athlete also. How does everyone do it? I would have to pay whitesboro school taxes and tuition?
I would be bankrupt. I wont inherit anything from parents like most whitesboro families.

Consider yourself lucky then. You really want to inherit narcissism, vapid pursuits and life long feeble earnings?

That you really care says much more than most of these posters, but if you REALLY want to impact your child's future you'd work on getting them out of there to Tex or Fla where they won't grow up in the worst liberal welfare job economy in the US and end up like 99% of the people you see with their life wasted?

I have a friend who we invited to stay at a house my sister was sitting on as an occasional home. We put him up there and met him when he arrived. Within 2 hrs he had seen so much that made the cny area look like the cesspool it is and he literally cursed his parents from Rome. Like saying the meanest things you'd ever hear a son say about hating his parents for forcing him to be raised there. That was one of the most enlightening things I ever saw and I never ever forgot it.

Comes down to priorities in many cases doesn't it? Do you have car payments? Buy a used car for cash and get rid of the payments. Is your house and the mortgage/taxes larger than what you need? Sell it and downsize. Do you take expensive vacations? Don't. Notre Dame is probably possible for a lot of people but not important enough for them to change their priorities so they can manage it.

Two newer cars, no payments!! We dont go on vactions, cant afford them. Water safari is our vacation. Owe nothing on credit cards.
House? yes too big and taxes are like $6700. Way over what we can afford, but its our only large expense, the kids luv it and have been there for 11 years. They luv their school, but my wife and I cannot stomach it, and want so bad to put our youngest in notre dame. He would even go after talking with him. There is just no way.

As much as I disagree with programming self-riotousness tell me, how much does it cost/yr?

sounds like a lot of 'happy talk' with no basis in reality. nd is not affordable to most, plain and simple, so don't try to sugar coat it. i'm surprised you didn't add selling a pound of your flesh in there as well for coming up with the cash. if you didn't give free rides to all the soul brother athletes then maybe more academic minded kids could get some real financial aid instead of the chump change that they offer us white folk.

6k per yr I believe for 7th grade and up, plus I hear they look for money for fundraising and want you to volunteer. Like I said, we would love to send him there, but no way financially and who has the time to volunteer all the time.

If your kids are happy with where they go to school then why mess with it? If you switch schools you might end up with miserably unhappy kids and you yourselves may be disappointed in the "ND dream." It may not be what you think it is as it has been known to greatly disappoint a lot of people. Your kids deserve to stay with kids they've known all their lives and keep the friendships they have made. It seems as though you have it all already but don't realize it yet.

He already hangs out with kids that go to ND, plus he has two cousins in the same grade. I really think he would enjoy it there. I could be wrong though, however we did talk about it with him. He would always have his same friends he has now.

$5200 -$5500/yr before available assistance based on income.

One large fundraiser a year. The $50k raffle. Tickets are $80 each.

"but no way financially and who has the time to volunteer all the time"

That says everything about your priorities.
