Shame on you few who have caused this unbelievable, shocking, and wrong attention to be haloed above the Notre Dame School....
Doesn't matter what he says or said for years.
He's not the boss.
Sister Anna Mae is.
Sister Anna Mae says they don't get benched - they don't get benched.
Not Abraham's call once she gives the order.
He's benched now for not following orders.

Shame on people who don't understand that there needs to be order, structure and accountability. You may not like the decision she made but the decision was up to her. She made the decision for better or worse. Abraham acted contrary to what he was told to do. If there's any blame it lies with him for not doing what he was told. Should all employees of any school or business be allowed to circumvent the authority of their bosses and do what they want when they want? Could you get away with that at your job? Would you let your children get away with that if you had given them an order to do something?

Insubordination not due to putting or not putting players on the field. Insubordination due to spreading the word among other players to coerce them into not attending rotc camp. Some players went forward with that word FROM THEIR HEAD COACH. Result is that some of those rotc kids took grief for a supposed "voluntary decision". The head coach developed and promoted this atmosphere. He got caught and was punished for it. Nothing to do with on field safety. That was the coach's bailout excuse. My son IS there, watched, and listened. the damage was done before the game was even played. no parent comments or player comments. Enough said.
This is absolutely true.

Shame on you for expecting the people who have to answer for this coach's poor judgement and even poorer choice to sweep his bad behavior under the rug and turn a blind eye. If you want to blame someone for this unflattering attention blame the man who brought it on- the coach. If he was so sure that his decision was right, that it was his call to make, then he should be man enough to deal with the inevitable fall out. How can a man say to the kids he's coaching that they have to obey him because he's the authority figure of the team, then turn around and thumb his nose at the authority of the school? What kind of mixed message does that send those kids? The primary goal of the school is to provide an education, not provide an opportunity to play football. Therefore a sports activity cannot take precedence over an academic activity. And if you're teaching your kid differently then you're doing him a disservice.

If that order put my child in direct harms way or could have resulted in the injury of himself or team mates ABSOLUTELY!!! A coach is hired with the responsibility and accountability to do what IS BEST for the team!!! Regardless of what parents feel isn't "fair"... Coach Abraham has the expertise, experience, knowledge, and conscience to make the RIGHT decisions for the team. I suggest in the future if a parent feels their child is excluded from obvious common sense procedures that are practiced everywhere then they don't allow their privileged son from signing up to be part of a team.

Really? That is what you believe? You're a complete idiot! The coach can play who he thinks EARNED the right to play, it's not an entitlement. It's Varsity football, not AYSO! So I guess she should start making out the starting line-ups, calling the plays and conducting practices!

Amazing. Reading all these comments blasting parents, ND, administrators, Athletic Directors, parents. All from the point of supposed parental complaints. A story put out be the coach to take away from the real reason he was punished. Everyone has scooped it up by the mouthful. Mosher and the OD along with a large majority have all bit. Good game plan coach. Way to deflect attention from the real issue. you were punished for the atmosphere you created in the locker room and for the detrimental actions you instilled in some of your players against those going to rotc camp. nothing to do with safety of players, supprt of administration, or direct orders from your leaders. who are the dummies here? I wonder now if anyone will go back and apologize on this forum to everyone they tore up with negative comments. great job coach.

Whats 'ABSURD' is all of you "adults" talking about a 15 year old CHILD. If you want to propose an OPINION, which is solely based on whatever side of the story you have heard, I respect your freedom of speech. But to sit on here and talk about JP Gilroy hidden behind a screen is utterly disgusting. Lets keep it to the adults here.

I played both football and basketball there during the last 10 years. A kid on our team (someone in the news recently) would brag about how a certain teacher not only paid his tuition but also wrote papers for him so he would stay eligible to play.
As for the coach that bought his players alcohol. I played for him. A teammate told Sister what he was doing and she did nothing. In fact, he still coaches there and I think is now an employee of the school.

Abraham CHOSE to ignore the school's rules that ROTC students do not get punished for participating in ROTC events. WHAT IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT THAT? I agree with "dog" that this has been played by Byron very well, in both traditional and social media.

What I think, you think or the man in the moon thinks of Sister Anna Mae's decision doesn't matter. What's getting lost in this and what is at the core of Abraham's suspension is that he did what he decided to do and disregarded the orders of his boss. He kept them out of the game because they went to boot camp. That's what he said he was going to do and he did it. It's called insubordination and he had no right to do what he did in his position as employee of the school. Now he has to deal with the consequences of that action.
