Look at the pathetic way they squabble amongst themselves claiming their own kid is the next upstate bazillionaire yet across the history of the whole region next to ZERO of them amounted to a squirt of piss and most ended up in menial public jobs being abusive overweight underachieving haters like dear old mom and dad! No matter what the scream the facts don't lie. Their fat stupid kids can play video games but few could program them LOL!
How would you know where and what all the graduates of Nd are doing now , to say that none of them have gone on to good or great careers is just assinine, most of them are probably doing just fine , I can only speak to the ones that graduated with my 5 kids over the years, are there some losers , of course , but that could be said about any school anywhere

The biggest Cop out is when the school and Syracuse diocese refuse to comment hiding behind the statement that it's a personnel issue.

If their decision is fact, ethically and morally based they should step up and make their statement without hiding behind cowardice.

the facts are the facts and they show the heavy handed actions of the Norte dame parents influencing the administration thinking they will create an environment that will benefit their sons but actually backfired.

I guarantee that Byron will not punish or take things out on the kids.

Quit saying how it was not mandatory for a ROTC cadet to not attend boot camp. You sound very ignorant. It is MANDATORY for a ROTC cadet to attend boot camp at one point in their ROTC career to graduate the ROTC program.
There are some students who chose to not go to the boot camp and are no longer in the ROTC program.

I would call it taking the high road. Rather than discussing an internal personnel matter in the media the way Byron Abraham did they are standing by their decision and abiding by their policy of not commenting publicly about personnel issues.

This approach is not uncommon. If you've ever attended a school board meeting or seen one on public access the you will know that all personnel issues are handled in executive session out of the view of the public. Same thing here. They apparently have a policy against discussing or commenting on personnel matters in public

Sister Anna Mae made a decision that students attending the boot camp would not be penalized for attending. Byron Abraham didn't agree with that decision and was vocal about that before the boot camp even started. Saturday came and he completely and openly disrespected and defied Sister Anna Mae with what he did. Take this situation and put it in any other boss and employee business relationship. It boils down to an employee defying a boss. you don't have to agree or disagree with Sister Anna Mae's decision to see that.

They graduate around 35 not 70

I do understand about football and the preparation that practice provides. More than I care to get into here. More importantly I understand the importance of order and discipline. I said before that it doesn't matter what anyone thinks of Sister Anna Mae's decision. It was her decision to make. Abraham defied her. That's why he got what he did.

I believe that this is the end of the football program at NDHS. Since Anna Mae has decided to make football decisions, it seems Abraham will no longer coach at the school.
It will be impossible for the school to hire a competent football coach to continue the program. They may put some lackey put in the position, but, no coach in his right mind would accept that position under these circumstances.

Who is even on this so called new school board anyways? Was there a vote? I don't think there was. This was not sisters decision to make she was told to by her boss. As for Byron going to the media he didn't! He had interviews set up for two of his players when they called to do the interview he had to tell them he couldn't and the reason why. What did ND think was going to happen playing the biggest game of the season? This is wrong on so many levels. Did you know that the current AD was college roommates with Mr. Gilroy? As for the liability it is huge and them kids could have gotten another kid hurt by not knowing there responsibilities. All of you should be carefull what you ask for. Think of all the possibilities if Byron is not there for good!

Under what circumstances? Should a football coach be able to pick and choose what rules he wants to abide by?
She didn't make a football decision. She made an educational and administrative decision. Whether you agree with the decisions she makes or not as administrator of the school they are her decisions to make. He made his feelings known when she made the decision and was overruled. After being overruled he went ahead and did what he wanted anyway.

Brilliant comeback!

That's the kind of response somebody gives when they are either not intelligent enough to have a conversation or they have been shown to be wrong by the facts.

Welcome to the Forum Mr. Gilroy. I see you also have had your friend Leogrande putting misinformation on here and on facebook as well, where she was called out for it and admitted she has no idea what she is talking about. It appears you convinced the hapless Destefano parent to put their name to an opinion to the OD that made no sense at all- it was nice that a 35yr football coach also wrote one that a 5 year old would understand.
Anna Mae made no such order to play any kid in any way at any time. Never. You are a liar Vinny Gilroy, and a meddling father who is now on damage control. All the kids and all of us parents understood and knew the ROTC kids that were missing for a week couldn't play in the game, and other kids were trained to fill in for that game. There was never any doubt by any kid, and it was understood and accepted.
The reason Anna Mae would not make such a demand is strictly liability!! If she ordered Abraham to play an unprepared player, and an injury resulted, lawsuits would fly. You would know about lawsuits, right Mr. Gilroy? Mr. Gilroy sued his elderly father!! His father!
And also, lets discuss Mr. Jones, your BFF who is Anna Mae's boss. Would you like us to believe that Mr. Jones, your college roommate, wasn't involved in this suspension?
The people who are for this suspension are a very few and very vocal. The Gilroys and Roccis behavior at the game was shameful and on display for all. Did you see how everyone was moving away from Mrs Gilroy and her incoherent booing? But that is ok to make a spectacle at the game and embarrass ND, but Abraham talking to the paper and answering questions is inappropriate? Hypocrite.
For those that know the Gilroys outside of the school, they do come across as nice, and in other circumstances probably are nice. But they are different when it comes to this kid, almost unhinged, and are desperate for him to be a great athlete. Sorry folks, he's not.
Sorry, not Gilroy.
Somehow it's you that has the wrong information. Before the children left for boot camp Sister Anna Mae said that no child would be benched for going. She did not order him to play any players. She said that no player on any current sports team would be penalized for going. I think soccer and cross country are going on right now too. The question came up before they left for boot camp. An announcement was made. Ask the children about the announcement that was made regarding this. The only reason that any of the football players may have thought they wouldn't be able to play is because of the pronouncement made by Abraham in defiance of Sister Anna Mae's decision. I think some quit ROTC as a result. Not sure where you are getting your information but you are mistaken.

It was simple insubordination.

If that is really what you believe, than your child or someone is misinforming you. There was never any announcement at school. My children attend the school. One plays on the football team. everything you just said is not true, there was no announcement. How ridiculous to think the school would announce over the speakers "don't concern yourself, go to ROTC trip and Coach Abraham will play you, I've told him to do so". Anna Mae cannot make any such statement, she cannot or she opens the school up for lawsuit over injury. This is so foolish.....

There was never any doubt that the kids who missed a week of practice would not play. Crystal clear.

If you are not Gilroy, than you know him. Don't believe a word he says. I had to watch him and his antics in baseball for years. If he gets this coach fired, how do you think that affects the football and basketball program? Comment on that please....

Probably the best indicator of the schools failure is the fact that Gilbert Destefano is on their side!! What an absolute twit. This is a guy that can barely stay awake at his job, yet he feels qualified to ridicule someone with 1000x the passion and dedication at theirs. Gilbert, better get down off that high horse before you fall off.

I seriously hope your wife instilled the moral fabric your offspring would bring to the military, we certainly dont want yours.
