Does anyone add a tip for the paperboy when paying their bill? How much would be fair for them?

I always paid my papergirl $5 each week - the paper always is delivered by 5AM and she always wraps the paper in plastic so it remains dry. She is the best papergirl I've had in a long, long time.

It's almost impossible to believe that anyone would be willing to fork over an outrageous sum of money to have that non-news newspaper delivered anymore.
You can get all the news you need for free online either from WKTV or YNN or even the Rome paper. You will get better and more complete news if you just look for it online. Even the obituaries, comics, classifieds, and Scramble. Don't be a sap and keep donna employed. Terminate your subscription, save money, and read real news starting today.

I really don't know the standard rate for tipping but I never add the tip in my bill since I don't know if he would get all of his portion. I prefer to hand it to him his tip. Usually I tip every two weeks and at Christmas I get gift cards of some kind....five a week or 20 for the month. Just depends on your finances.

No tip. They are working a job. Let them work and get paid for the agreed amount like the rest of the working world.

When I was delivering papers I had to pay out of pocket for the plastic bags but if the paper got wet and someone called The OD I'd be charged a dollar for the paper I got paid 11 cents to deliver. If I got tipped as part of a customer's bill I'd have to wait 2-4 weeks to receive it.

There were times when people would call to complain about how small the paper was because The OD sucks, I'd still get charged a dollar because of the complaint even though they still charged the customer for the paper.

Some people request the paper go in the mail slot. Well one day I was doing a sub route and the mailman saw me. I got threatened with a fine if I continued to do this. Of course when I failed to do this I was fined from The OD when people complained that I misplaced their paper.

If I was just putting the paper on the front porch then I didn't care if I got a tip. But when someone asked me to put it somewhere special (inside garage, balanced on their windowsill or inside their tiny ass mail slot) then it's expected to get at least a dollar. All these things take time and most of the carriers aren't just doing one route. Some have hundreds of papers to deliver and trying to balance the paper on a windowsill in the rain or snow is not something they have time to do.

Glad I don't do that shit anymore.
