They don't call West Fla the Redneck Riviera for nothing! I get your sentiment but no.. Utica is particularly devoid of intelligent people, honesty and opportunity. The best you can do when bashing Utica's myriad issues is to always differentiate enough that anyone who lives there still will know you aren't covering them blanket-style with insults. Do yourself a favor and remember the place is in the pull of the black-hole of decline. Utica teeters on the event horizon, and many feel the point of no return has been passed.<quoted text>I agree. People from the area are so down on Utica that they forget there are a bunch of cities that have far worse problems than we do. There's trash everywhere but there are also good, hard working people as well. One thing to remember, in most cities, people are moving out to the suburbs. Then cities such as Utica try to keep their population up by bringing in immigrants. It's happening everywhere. A lot of good people stay but many leave.
I left a lot of good people there and doubt they'll ever get out. Ask anyone who's left how their lifestyle has improved.
