Seriously? They're replacing the traffic lights on the arterial? I thought all of that was going to be ripped out within the next couple of years. Talk about a waste of taxpayer money!

The pedestrian bridge is the main aspect of this project. The excuse for replacing the lights is that the old ones can't be accurately timed and synchronised with each other. The new ones will retain the setting more accurately. The nutty thing about this entire project is that it will only have a minor effect on traffic. The only real solution would have been to create an elevated section that would open up the entire street level area to pedestrians. They didn't need a pedestrian bridge. What is needed is a bridge for traffic.
