I don't care how good he was at hockey. I care about a beautiful young girl with tons of promise that was brutally murdered. Where was brockport security? Let him rot in jail for the rest of his sorry life. Shame on the newspaper for praising this mOnster.
Brockports security?? I agree there should have been psychic security guards that could have predicted this so they wouldn't let a girl and her boyfriend in the dorm room.

Before everyone goes and attacks someone you have never met why don't you calm down and clue into your own screwed up lives. Clayton may have been aressted in Florida last year, but for the same reason many of your own children will be in the future; drinking. He is a good kid that was dealt a troubled hand, and none of us get to choose it. Is it a justifiable way to deal with yor anger, absolutely not. And for that I feel immensely for her family, a parents worst nightmare. However, have some empathy for his family as well, extremely kind and loving, who do not deserve to deal with backlash on top of their own grief.
And ps who gives a piss about the OD we all know they have sucked for years. So either stop reading or stop bitching.
You're a idiot! stop defending psychotic murders who beat innocent women to death!!!

Alex's last tweet is kind of chilling: "Should've known"

if he did it he should fry like a chicken wing. If he is found innocent then be that as it may. As far as his hockey career, what career? hes done nothing spectacular. many many better players came from cny than him. many many from nh way better than him, include many from whitesboro ,rome ,utica and last but not least clinton as well. back to the important issue if he did it deep fry him,if innocent then find who did do it.

I will be willing to bet that this had something to do with alcohol, much like the UVa case. The reason the coverage is centered on this probably spoiled, entitled brat, is because the victim's name has not been released yet. I know many college aged kids who drink too much, but they do not beat their girlfriends to death. I would have thought the arrest in Florida would have been a wake up call, but I guess not. And by the way, he had to be pretty bad to be arrested in Brevard for "public intoxication", they don't have time down there to make such arrests, unless the original crimes were pretty bad.(I'm guessing they dropped assault)
Monroe County is a very conservative area, and he will not get off lightly here.(This is NOT a place where you EVER want to be a defendant!)

over the years do you realize what this bum has allowed on his teams. anyone who really knows him can write a book. but through the years therehave been so many a$$ kissers come in and out of the rec center its amazing. so many kids screwed over because he allowed certain privilaged kids get away with anything and everything. When are you people going to stand up for your kids . sit back when you are supposed to step up when you need to. thisguy has got to go. have you asked him if he ever switched birth certificates or altered them. He ha. That is fact. ask him. how many kids who broke code of conduct rules has he squelched? Many.

There is not security in each buildling. They have a campus police. I do agree that it's odd no one heard anything, but it could happen. Tragic.

This monster took the life of many when he took the life of one. My prayers go out to the Kogut family and all of Alex's friends and family. I am thankful that the police caught him so fast.

This man is disgusting.I knew him and had hung out with Alex and him. He is a disgrace to New Hartford Highschool. Alex did nothing wrong to him ever. She loved him unconditionally. For her to die the way she had to, is heartbreaking. He has anger management problems and he needs to get treatment. Prison is the best place for this monster to go and I hope he stays there for a very long time. Alex was innocent and he had no right to end her life. I am ashamed to say I even knew this man, let alone had hung out with him.
My deepest sympathies. It seems you knew the Alex and her relationship with Clayton well.

If you'd like to share a few words about her, a photo, we'd love to share it.

You dope, he is dating a DIFFERENT Alexandra Kogut. Yes he goes to SUNY Brockort, but the one he dates goes to MCC in Rochester and she's from VVS HS, not Hew Hartford. And both girls are Facebook friends, probably cousins. I highly doubt you are the only person in NY with your name too.

My thoughts are with the Kogut family. I know them well and cannot imagine what they are going through and will go through in the future. That young man should rot in hell. I don't know what provokes the human spirit to do such a thing.

Alex was a sweet, beautiful girl. It's a real tragedy to see something like this happen.

This just goes to show what people are capable of doing and what a sick world we really do live in.
