WRONG he was charged when he admitted sodomizing an 11-12 year old clinton boy when he was around 13 and the case was sealed. I always KNEW that would come home to roost when the od would gush about what a !!great!! athlete he supposedly was. At least now hell be able to return to his first interest since he'll be spending around 15-20 years on a manslaughter charge in a prison full of men!
Manslaughter ?? Your nuts, he wil plea to murder 2'nd degree and most likely get 35 to life. He goes to trial he will lose and get 50 to life. He will take th 35.
You have no fkn idea what you're talking about.

A- NY does not have an "50 to life" sentencing structure, now a "35" idiot.

B- The vast majority of cases JUST LIKE THIS ONE end in manslaughter when he starts claiming he was drunk, she was attacking him etc.

When you don't know anything about what you're talking about you should just stfu.

I wouldn't put blame on parenting. Sometime we instill good values but society teaches us something different. I don't know the parents, It's just my opinion that everything someone does in life, is not directly due to the parents.-

In probably 98% of the cases there are enough signs that someone should have picked up that he has an anger problem, drinking problem, roids problem add them all together and what do you get?

YOU have to know your kids and STOP trying to be their friends and act like a parent even when its hard - that is your job.

Yes he is. He was extremely hard with both his sons, as well as the grandfather. My son played hockey with both Clay and Kurt. It is beyond sad.

New York State requires a mandatory plea of not guilty for a murder charge. His Public defender probably entered it on his behalf or instructed him to do so himself.

It is unbelievable sickening that the Utica OD writes a story about how fantastic this guy is at hockey. This entire article talks about his career. Who cares after he beats the sweetest girl ever to death? God willing, the OD will be bankrupt very soon. My heart goes out to her family. She was a wonderful girl that was a joy to know for many years.

My sentiments exactly upon reading the OD article. Someone doesn't just murder his girlfriend one day. No doubt this guy has been abusive before...was it ignored or tolerated because he was a star athlete? Priorities. We as a society, especially men, need to make it clear to abusers, rapists, child molesters that this behavior is not going to be tolerated or overlooked because they are good at sports, talented at their jobs, or otherwise a "good" guy. And girls need to be taught to leave a relationship at the first sign of abuse, no matter how sorry the guy seems to be, before the violence escalates. Deepest sympathy to this girl's family and friends.

Why are the parents to blame? I know of a lot of kids whose parents are kind, loving and totally follow what their kids do.. then the kid screws up. Key word here.. KID SCREWS UP. Don't blame the parent for what a 21 year old man did. I am positive they did not teach their son to murder. This is a tradegy on all accounts. Both families lost it all. Both lives gone. Sad.

Yes he did, those children were so scared of their father as children. I have not seen Clayton since he was a kid but know that he tried to please his daddy and father but never could. Scott was a very angry man in the youth hockey days.

Really? The Whittemore family still has their child they can visit, call and talk to while the Kogut's can only look at old photos and visit a graveyard. Did the Whittemore's not see their own son who had lived with them for 18 years had problems with anger? Shame on them for not getting him help. The next thing we'll hear is he was a victim of abuse.

My condolences to the Kogut's on the loss of their beloved daughter.

Its Sunday morning and I cannot believe this is the page I clicked on this morning. I suppose I am looking for some shread of decency on here towards both families, and all I seem to be reading is garbage with a few bright spots. The bottom line is this people. Clayton was a wonderful hockey player in hs, is a son to parents who love him, a brother to his siblings, friend to others, and a boyfriend to one little girl who is no longer with us. And it appears as if he is responsible for her death. I cannot imagine or swallow the hardships and pain of both families for Clayton's wrong doing. But, He is a human being with ups and downs like all of us. None of us know the facts except those that were in the room that terrible night. As for Alex and her family, I can only imagine they will not have peace for a long time. And if you believe in God or not, say a prayer for them or do whatever it is you do when in need. Both these families need he support of their friends, family and community. Not us on here posting and argueing. New Hartford is a safe, clean, near crime free place to live. I know, I grew up there, have traveled, and miss the little town. People who live there are not scum, thugs, or anything like that. Most are married still, have good jobs, and raise their children well. But kids do what they want no matter how well you raise them. Clayton was not a spoiled kid, or entitled, as some have said. And Alex did not deserve what happened to her. There are two sides to this story. Two victims, and of course the families are victims as well. It would behoove everyone to try to imagine yourself in the position of both sides. If you were Alex's parents, how would you feel? Pissed off...? Revengeful...? In immense pain...? Wanting Clayton to pay for the rest of his life...? IF you were Clayton's parents, how would you feel. Shocked...? Hurt...? Curious as to how your son could do such a thing...? Remorse...? None of us know how either parents feels. None of us know what went on, exactly between these two young people over the course of their relationship. All we know for sure is that they were dating, the young lady has lost her life, and Clayton is most likely responsible and has apparently admitted to it. But Passing judgment is not our job on either side. Pull together people. Show respect for you and everyone else. No one knows what goes on in anyone elses life to make them behave and do what they do. The passing judgement needs to cease, for the sake of both families. Send cards, love, support and prayers, not insults and opinions about something none of us really knows about.
Kogut Family: I did not know your daughter, but my children did. We send our love and support to all of you during this time. May her memory live on forever. Our prayers are with you. Stay strong.
Whittemore Family: Sandy, I am praying for you. I wish I was back in NH to pay my respects to Alex, and hug you. Do not blame yourself for this. My prayers are with you. Stay stong.
May peace and love find both of your families, and your children.
This is my last post.
Two victims? Please, do not act like he's this innocent person. He is a low life who deserves everything that is coming to him; a life full of guilt and suffering, and nothing less. I feel sorry for his family, who did not cause this, however I cannot say the same for Clayton. Alex was a beautiful girl who had a whole world ahead of her, and is now a heavenly angel in the sky. All my love and support to the Kogut family. Stay strong.

I don't agree with that, yes they get you see there son, maybe they did ignore the warning signs. You wouldn't want to know your child was capable of such a horrendous deed. I feel sorry for both families. One is left without there child the other is left with child who will be labeled a monster.

Apparently the parents are a little fked up like time bombs making the kids live in "fear" of the father. Just desserts! It sure sounds like we found the smoking gun! His dad Scott is probably STILL saying this isn't his problem. His kidmolests boys and kills girls! Dad of the year material right there!

dont blame the mother sandy she was trying her hardest to raise clayton on his own after she had just got a divorce from his scumbag father scott. Scott was a military prick who beat his wife many times before she got up and left ik that clayton hated his dad and had not spoke to him in a few years. you military people out their who think it's ok to raise your kids like a drill sargent need to STOP it messes up kids badly a 10 year old should not have to deal with being drilled around and i wouldnt be surprised if clayton got his killer instinct from his dad. his brother is doin very well in the marines and just a few months ago clayton wanted to join the army but was denyed due to having only one kidney and you could tell it took a big toll on him. as a friend of his I have no way to justify his horrible actions but you could always seem to tell he was just gonna snap on someone at somepoint and it just sucks that it had to be his girlfriend wrong place wrong time and im sure they where in a fight as the always seemed to be i would always tell him to just end it but he wouldnt and now i feel terrible cause if he did two young lives would have been saved. oh and he didnt go to the college just to murder her as he told me the night before he was going to brockport for the weekend to see alex and if you planed a murder you would not be telling people you where going to the college.

I am betting that this pretty much deads his younger brother's chances of ever having a gf! The father sounds like a piece of sxxt for ruining his kids. NH is a very effed up place to raise kids this is all insane!
