Tony should absolutely loose his carry permit...if it were anyone else they have lost it when police questioned them about the shooting and had to get it back from the court...

Hey DRN how have you been? Looks like I picked up one of your trolls. LOL
Anyway, yes I suppose it's possible. But if your dog is trained to that extent I would think he would also be trained to wait for the command. It also doesn't excuse this owner from not having the dog on a leash or under his control. I believe what happened is this cops friend has complained and fought with this owner in the recent past other than the night before. I think she got sick and tired of being chased or whatever by this dog. This owner has a rep of never keeping his dogs under control. My shepard is a baby too and I would love to just let her run free because I know that her bark is way bigger than her bite. However, the people on the other end of her bark don't know that.
Anyway, she went to her friend (the x cop) most likely not the first time, and the cop had enough. So, he went and shot the dog. I'm not saying he was right, but I do feel this owner wasn't right either by letting his dog loose.
Yes, this may have been
simmering for some time.

That piece of shit should've the same thing happen to him. if someone shot one of his children it would be plastered all over the news for years and thousands of dollars of donations and roads or parks named after him, This poor guy, who i don't even know has the law in which i am sure he trusted his entire life to protect him and his family shoot his beloved pet right before his eyes. My heart goes out to him.

If no one knew that the shooter was a x cop, I think many opinions would be different. After reading and replying on two threads, it seems to me that many comments are fueled because the guy was a cop. You know how all these law abiding people on topix just love to jump on anything that involves the cops. Personally I don't agree with what he did (seems like he went there to do just what he did). But on the other hand, the owner is just as much at fault for not keeping his dog under control.
quoted from someone who posted a link on another thread about Trenton dog laws.
"D. Chase or otherwise harass any person in such a manner as
to reasonably cause intimidation or to put any person in
reasonable apprehension of bodily harm or injury."
Maybe the cop wasn't intimidated because he had his gun. But the lady that had the argument with him the night before was sure as hell scared out of her wits.
Thats bullshit!! The bastard went there with intent to kill after his little pu_sy friend whined cause she didn't like being told that bikers were not allowed on the trail..

Sounds like someone has homo issues. I bet that when some rapist is jamming there strap on in your loved ones ass on the side of that trail and some retired cop with a side arm saves them you'd be the first one on channel 6 crying and thanking that "hero" who protected your wife's anal virginity. LOL PS. I think you might be gay.

All NYS troopers are overpaid pieces of crap. You wonder why this state is broke? Paying on average $112,000 a year to these hacks certainly doesn't help.

a hack is a Correction officer.
This state is broke from all the welfare, it is not all the fault of state workers.

The trooper left his car with gun in hand. If he feared for his sorry ass then he should of jumped back into the car...instead of shooting the dog at a distance ..the dog went down...he then approached the dog as it lay wounded and shot him again at close range. If it was you or I we would of been arrested already,

i carry, and im glad i do! because i once was threatened by some jackass who was gonna let his pitbull out of his jeep 2 teach me a lesson. once i convinced him that i would most certainly use my S&W to paint the intersection with his dogs insides if he turned him loose, he drove away and stopped harassing me! which was the best thing for everyone, because imagine the upset people that would have had to watch me gut that mutt with my knife in the road had i not had my pistol and stupid unleashed his dog!
