Wow. People in utica calling others hicks. Huntsville has a population of almost 200k and is growing. Utica has 60k and is shrinking. There's also cow sex in utica. You might want to remove the straw of hay from your lips before you try and judge something you absolutely have no clue about.
Sound like hicks to me. Lol!

Huntsville's main economic influence is derived from aerospace and military technology. Redstone Arsenal, Cummings Research Park (CRP), and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center comprise the main hubs for the area's technology-driven economy. CRP is the second largest research park in the United States and the fourth largest in the world. University of Alabama in Huntsville is a center for technology and engineering research in the area. There are commercial technology companies such as the network access company ADTRAN, computer graphics company Intergraph and design and manufacturer of IT infrastructure Avocent. Telecommunications provider Deltacom, Inc. is based in the city. Cinram manufactures and distributes 20th Century Fox DVDs and Blu-ray Discs out of their Huntsville plant. Sanmina-SCI has a presence in the area. Fifty-seven Fortune 500 companies have operations in Huntsville.[46]

In 2005, Forbes Magazine named the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area as 6th best place in the nation for doing business, and number one in terms of the number of engineers per total employment. In 2006, Huntsville dropped to 14th; the prevalence of engineers was not considered in the 2006 ranking.

Sounds like a great place for Nanotechnology to flourish! And I bet they don't have to get some fake school in Montgomery to pretend to be the customer of their building either!

No cow sex either...but as uticans think they're hicks. The country has blown by the utican region and the poor souls left there still continue to laugh like they realize what has happened. The utica region is nothing more than a punch line.

I've been up and down the east coast from NY to Florida. I never bumped into a trailer park or seen a modular home. It wasn't until I came upon the Mohawk Valley that I saw my first trailer park... and I saw these odd elongated homes and A-frames... that's when I learned what modular homes were.
Then I saw trucks with "Git-R-Dun" written with window wax on the back window...

Upstate NY was the first time I encountered hick/redneck culture.

Somehow I can believe that. NY has some real "state of the art" trailerparks.

WKTV reported last night that current Remington employees would not be offered transfers. If they wanted jobs in Alabama they would have to apply like everyone else. Alabama is a right to work state(no forced unionism) and that no doubt has everything to do with no transfers. Why pay artificially inflated union wages and benefits if you don't have to.

The union rep was interviewed. He said something about having the state of New York step in and build them a new building. I think if you look up clueless in the dictionary theis guy's picture would be next to it.

While I'm sure the Safe Act played a part, New York has other problems that make it unfriendly to business. High taxes, over regulation and forced unionism among the worst of these. This loss of jobs is the latest example of how these things conspire to drive business out. It also serves as a template for what happens in a liberal, socialist, big government setting.

And you can be sure wktv the od and wibx will be telling everyone how cuomo ... griffo and brindisi say companies are knocking themselves out to move the big giant "nano center".

The Nano Hockey Convenience Matrix wasn't consulted on this move so they are not giving interviews or even asking questions yet. They DID announce a swell "VIPER!!!" for the Rome PD though!

Unfortunately, we're getting sold out by our politicians... wholesale. They keep telling the sheep that better days are coming, the sheep nod and vote them back in. It's time to push back hard. Clean house. Stop the out of control welfare payments (and fraud) and overhaul the tax structure on individuals and homeowners. Get school taxes in line.
Of course, when we're giving away 10 years of tax relief to NEW businesses, and no one is jumping on the offer, we'll continue to pay. As an example, Troopers earning an average of $82,000 state wide. C'mon. The state needs to seriously downsize. Across all departments.
I'm disgusted, and am looking at reasonable alternatives to move. Cuomo has been a huge disappointment.
good luck with that!

I'm always sorry to hear of anyone getting laid off, because it's happened to me. When your unemployment runs out and you haven't found a job, send out a big THANKS A LOT to Hanna for doing nothing again. He's a bag of wind.

Of course you're right but truth doesn't feed into the rabid dog's idiotic rants here. Nothing new. Remington operations in several states will also be affected. What's clearly missing here is Remington themselves blaming the SAFE act for their decision! Why isn't the CEO coming out next to Hanna or some other politician? Sure it's regrettable when jobs are MOVED (not lost) but here in backwoods upstate NY we have an over abundance of morons. I mean look at them here demonizing the prospect and future of cutting edge technology! I'm so glad NYS includes downstate. I wish you & family the best.

Lets just get to the facts. Whether it is 80 or 225 jobs, Remington is moving their operations to Cuntsville, Alabama... Therefore, Ilion will be no more. I understand the mentality of that area(Ilion), but in the next 5 years the Mohawk valley will be basically farm country. Maybe the politicians can contact the porn industry and bring in expertise for beastility As for the Utica area, even if they do bring in that nano plant, it will never make up for all the jobs lost in that area. Utica might as well change its name to Cornhill or Cornholio. It such a shame and so disgusting, why do we have politicians. The roads are filled with pot holes, infrastructure needs to be updated, City,County, School employees pensions are swelling, not enough consolidation of city, town, county services, no major business moving into the area(I don't count Stewarts and comets), taxes increasing, etc..... How the hell are we, that's right we... going to pay for everything. Every time I listen to a radio show or local news, they are talking about all this positive news. Can someone give me a list of +'s. I sure can give a list of negative's. One of the memo's above talks about trailers and hick's. That memo is correct. At one time the south was filled with trailers, hicks, IQ's of 50 and lower, and they moved so slow that a turtle would be them out. Guess what, who are the idiots now. We are!!! That's right...Weeeeee(squealing like a pig). The South is were industry and people( with high IQ's) are moving to. I am just as part of this as you all are.

Hanna? Isn't he the Democratic candidate for Congress? His position are indistinguishable from the Democratic platform.
