tell why they'll only get around 350.00..matter of fact, i once got a bonus of 700.00 and got @400, so they'll get a little more..anyways, you pay the full amt of taxes out of that bonus check. the employer doesn't match the state and federal taxes. oh well, better than nothing!!

Just think redistribution of OUR TAX MONEY. It's our money they are passing out. Collect taxes on the Indians, and stop letting them look like such great people.

I work at the casino and I got less than $300. It's the executives that sit on their asses all day that got the big bonuses, not the people who do the real work and actually keep that place running. So that $1,111 per person is far from the truth and there were a lot of people who didn't get bonuses at all. If you ask me, they didn't even give out $5 million in bonuses. I think it was a BS number they came up with to get media attention. Why would they even tell the media in the first place? It's just a grab for attention and I don't think its right.

No other business goes on TV and announces their employee bonuses. It is just a ploy to get naive people to think that the Oneida Nation is working in everyones best interest. They are a pariah in this community, and always will be.

Kodak used to announce their bonuses on TV and in newspaper back in the day when they had 50,000 employees in town. In fact local businesses used to have their 2nd biggest sales week of the year during Kodak bonus week. Usually car dealerships, furniture stores had specials for Kodak employees.

If you had a private business and didn't pay one single dime for any property taxes, you would really be rolling in it. I'm guessing OIN takes in at least $200-400 million a year, pays zero taxes on any of it, and these BS silver covenant grants they throw at the surrounding school districts, (usually about $100K) is pocket change. That's like you or me dropping 50 cents in the red buckets for Xmas.

That's because the OIN is run by the scum of he earth and they are protecting their only income system with propaganda. Just like the police and the small local governments around here. It doesn't matter how it really is it only matters how things LOOK. I have never seen a whole population so connived and obsessed with appearances as in cny. Yay they gave the "$1000" bonuses this year yippie! My company gives me a $2500 - 3500 bonus for christmas every year for the last 19 years. 19 years and my company is big but does not have the profit margin the casino has not even close. Is this what they think impresses and buys new yorkers? I guess that's because when you do not DO anything but sell gambling addictions and poison in your community words are the next best thing. It's one of the poorest payouts in the casino industry. I'll laugh my ass off when someone throws a bomb in that corrupt casino that scumbag "governor" Cuomo and his lobbyists sold cny out for. Only in new york the nanny state would they tax cigarettes yet reward the people who push them. I think it's getting close to the time when people will need to begin taking ACTION agaginst these groups that corrupt the region with lies,

It is not OUR TAX MONEY as you put it. What makes you think that? Oneida County has lost every court decision haven't they? Aren't most of the employees non-Native Americans that pay all of the taxes that other citizens of the state pay? Aren't those same people likely to spend at least part of their bonuses at local, non-native businesses? Don't travelers to the resort also spend money at non-native enterprises like Joel's steak house and the other businesses that have sprung up along Rte 365? Don't all of those businesses pay more in taxes because of that extra business generated just because they are near the casino?

In addition to all of the taxes that the non-native employees pay, what about the bump in sales tax revenue from the hospitality deal? That was $4 million last year. Total all of that tax revenue and then instead of thinking about how they owe more, think about what it would be like if they weren't there. Would we be better off without the Turning Stone Resort and those 4500 jobs?

Stop thinking about what you think you don't have and be happy with with what you do. Unless and until some court finds in favor of the county and forces the OIN to pay, this is the way it is. Enjoy the benefits.

Do you really think that your taxes would go down if the OIN was paying corporate taxes or is it more likely that the government would find ways to spend that money?

You are right about that. Even if they forced some deal on the casino the taxes would still keep going up and not to the benefit of the average Joe. For at least 25 years the leaders of ny have been selling us out down the road. Look at RoAnns casino deal? The people claiming nothing will change forget one thing. If enough people start raising hell about what is going on here they can revoke that casino's license. NY does not "owe" the OIN a gambling license the Nation seems to forget that. What's worse is their stance that they seem entitled to it. Times change and so can the fkn laws Ray. The bottom line is that the area is hardly better off because of that gilded dump. The black corruption and public disservice that has happened since it was opened is hard to ignore. All that really happened was a reallocation of various groups' profit potential. You got sold out suckers.

You want to talk about the lobbying history behind the whole casino starting with day one? There's easily enough there to bring the original deal into question and dispute again. I'm just amazed more people didn't spot it through the filter of time.

You all whine about this place, OIN I guess is what you people call it, but what about Vernon Downs? How can each of you sit here and biotch about the Indians when VD is just as bad? I sometimes wonder if there is a gig between those two places. Up until recently, the VD benefits never called the bonus on the ticket separate from cash. Which means, up until recently, that bonus money was able to be added to the next bonus for added money.

Then read the fine print of the bonus at Turning Stone, says cash, but I am baffled that they want the donation back and you keep the rest. Well on a couple of dollars that appears to be cheap, but when I see people with $50-$100 that, well I can see they want that money.

I do find the place neat,OIN, nicer than VD. There are a few very nice and hard working people at VD but there is one sleezy guy that sends an ominous sense up my spine, very, very bad. He is one of the guards at the door. Right there, turns me off. I would like to know if Saratoga pulls this crap at the door. I want to find out one day. There is another woppy guy that is just as bad, but, this one, something hits bad.

Now, you biotch about the Indians, yes, sure I bet there is a lot of stuff going on there, I see Julian works there and it is too bad Destito got a stranglehold on that place. But, VD is run by the state, why don't YOU people think this state is any better? Cuomo is so highly criminally corrupt, read some articles written in the Post/Daily News/ Albany Times/ an article stating Cuomo was a dangerous man and that THEY KNEW HE HURT THEM, BUT COULD NOT PROVE IT BECAUSE HE WAS A PRO AT COVERING HIS TRACKS. They called him, paraphrasing, a dangerous man! It was in one of those papers, and possibly the one from Long Island, I know the name, cant remember right now, I saved that article, but it would take a while to find it.

Anyhow, how is VD any better? They changed the way they gave out benefits and a few other things, That place is morbid because there isn't enouogh to do and yet if you go with somebody, you're abused at the door for bringing in contraband that is nothing more and short than reading material!

On the whole, the people at VD, customers appear to be trash where as more money or more appearance of proper dress can be seen at OIN.

Remember, the state is controlling VD, how do YOU not think that place is NOT more corrupt? I do have an issue with what they hired. I don't think it was proper to have hired someone from OIN to work the controls there, I think that was very wrong!

If you think OIN is bad, and sometimes I get some strange sensations about the place and yet to figure out what it is, then boycott it. I think it is interesting, and in the final days of my life, I had to pick one it would be OIN that I prefer.

I did get that December card and was disapointed that each ball on all 4 cards were the same, 1.5 instead of 2, 3 or a 4 on at least one out of the four. I don't think I will be around to use them, maybe one, I had thought of scratching the others to see if there were different numbers or where they all 1.5. I was disapointed, then I am used to hurt.

Again, while the state wants to run casinos and there is a lot of dirty corruption at the state level, then why scream about the OIN, VD is a problem at a political level!

Open New York to private casinos and watch the Indians run. Look at Atlantic City, or Vegas. You don't see the Indians there. Let Trump and the others take them on..
