He wants to raise taxes and blames it on mandates but why do these people remain on the patroll?
---Amodio--former county legislator at 48,000 part time.
---Gigliotti--former county legislator at a salary that supplements his social security.
---Candido at 90,000 while he collects his public pension.
----Noonan former defeated council candidate at 56,000.
---Sister at the election bureau at 60,000

Because this is what greaseballs do best under the "Family and Friends Plan". Piss-ente is very loyal to his close friends and relatives, esp. his Rome & Utica pasta fazoos. The latest county budget also calls for him to receive a 3% pay raise for 2013. 3%!!!!! Thats pretty good for a guy making $105K/annually. Even the best teachers contract doesn't have a 3% annual pay raise. But these ignorant voters keep putting this pile of sh*t back in office every 4 years.

The last several generations of local politicians in this area have ruined it....plain and simple, especially the last cohort. When you read posts like the one that started this thread, it is clear to see how it has happened; absolutely disgusting but thanks for sharing it. Hoping someone comes and cleans it all up soon.....way too much nepotism and corruption in this region at the absolute lowest ocmmon denominator of intelligence and ethics....when it happens in other cities (look at Jersey) it is wiped out fast.....it has been going on here since the 50s and even with the death of the mafia in the 80's, its just gotten worse rather than better. Please NYS clean it.....clean it!

The legislators most of whom are rubber stamps including Tallarino should ask these people be removed before the budget is passed.

Despite everyone's complainin absolutely NOTHING will change with this sleepy little area. When these political pigs decide to step down they will hand pick their successors...the voters will have no say whatsoever.Doesn't matter if its Griffo, Pissente, McNamara, or Palmeri.

That will never happen.

Look at all the former legislators, now on the payroll. Here's how it works ...

1. Get elected to the legislature (helps if you got friends on either party committee, or perhaps become a committee person yourself)

2. Get re-elected at least 3 times. This is the simple part -- encumbents ALWAYS win.

3. After serving 8 years in a part-time legislator seat, get appointed to a county job by the County Executive (or political party).

4. Work the county job for 3 years, then announce your retirement (making room for the next appointee).

Here's the kicker -- legislators are paid ~$7000-$8000 per year for their part time work. After 10-years of county employment or service, they become eligible for state retirement benefits. If they retire from their appointed county job, their benefits are based on their highest 3-years of salary. Consider Pam Mandryck, whose benefits will be based on ~$80,000 per year even though she only earned that much for 4 years.

How many legislators are going to vote to end that gravy train?

So what is your point?

Romans can not get elected to county executive without votes from Utica and the towns.
