Great going you GREEDY Utica Teaachers that voted down the agreement today. Voting against a pay freeze that would have saved over 100 jobs. This shows you the mentality of some of the Utica teachers. SHAME ON YOU.

Did your school loans increase this year? I'm sure they didn't, so that means you paid them this year. So, earning the same for another year isn't going to break you.

just proves what we already knew...the teachers that voted this down COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE STUDENTS AND THEIR PROGRAMS PERIOD... the private sector is taking pay cuts to survive and these teachers wont even take a pay freeze for a year... lol when they say its about the kids .. bullcrap

It is sad to hear that the Utica Teachers couldn't look at the bigger picture. The "NO" voters only thought of themselves. Such a shame. Oh well, when their class sizes increase, we do not want to hear the crying. Enjoy that small pay increase some of you will receive now. Just remember your fellow coworkers that you screwed. GREAT JOB to the GREEDY ONES.

Our union is greedy. If you want to know who voted against the freeze, it was probably 90% of the teachers that were not going to lose their jobs. Shame on them! That all about solidarity is really about the ones with enough seniority. We need a right-to-work law so we can get rid of these unions.

So sad, the new energetic teachers will lose out and the ones that have the same lessons plans from 20 years ago get to stay...great system.

If it was close, by 140 votes, there are plenty of votes to throw out the union.

Then you should be taking up a separate issue for allowing teachers to use 20 year old lesson plans. Teachers stood up for more than just a contract...they stood up against a much bigger issue that you wouldn't understand.

They stood up for greed. Don't say it was because of the new APPR. It was because the most senior teachers didn't want to lose a step, which means a lot of money, for some longevity bonus. It was about greed and not caring about their co-workers.

Teachers are pathetic! All we hear is they're "in it for the kids" but push come to shove and they show their true colors. Then administrators say there's no hope a few weeks ago BUT WAIT, another $5.8 Million only if ... It's one big crock of shit!

Coming to a school district near you, taxpayers scammed one shell game after another.

Oh I was in on it, and I completely understand, sad day for the profession, and even worse for the students. Can't wait for the complaining to begin and I'll be the first to put those who voted for this in their place.

Don't worry the district will be rich in 3 years when the APPR gets every teacher fired that they don't like.

Im a Utica Teacher and I voted yes but in reality its NYS fault, not the Utica Teachers. Do you morons realize that the NYS student aid formula is horribly broken? Some school districts (like Utica)receive $6500 per child in state aid and others(mostly in Downstate NY) receive up to $8500 per child. How the heck is that fair??? There should be a public outcry in the City of Utica towards Gov. Cuomo and every politician that makes these decision... but instead you blame the teachers!!! All you scumbags all of a sudden care that your kids are getting short changed.... but it aint the teachers short changing them... Its POLITICS! There are more people in the lower half of the state that Upstate and way more of them vote.... unlike the degenerates that live here and are on welfare!!! Cuomo and the rest of the politicians know this and they shit on us with a smile on their face! Blame the right person!

It is the politicians, Karam, district administration, and the union. This is why NYS is going down the tubes.

You people are so ridiculous!! You make comments on things you have no idea about! Teachers that voted against the contract did not do it because they donít want to lose their measly little raise next year... it is much more complicated!! I mean obviously if all that the contract said was that there was going to be a wage freeze for one year to save all those jobs, you bet your butt it wouldnít have been voted down... I mean really, you people honestly think that teachers are that concerned about a raise that they would allow other teachers to possibly lose their jobs over it... thatís just pure ignorance. People that donít understand or know about all the facets in the contract need to keep their ignorance to themselves. Teachers care about each other and the students... letís get that straight!! BUT... they also have to care about themselves. If your career was on the line, you would do the same thing!
