I agree that taxes is the number one reason businesses are leaving or not coming to NYS. The reason people are leaving or not coming is the lack of good paying jobs along with those high taxes.

I moved to florida from Utica 23 yrs ago after I sold my business. Had many problems with NYS and taxes choked us. Worked in Florida and made much more money and was able to keep more of it without state taxes, lower insurance and sales tax.

Opened up another business which was very easy with florida being business friendly. Miss family and the foods but not the state bull shit.

I agree this state is terrible. I know, I know, then why do I still stay. Well I only have about 2 years to go and then we are flipping everything. All our properties, and our business. Believe it or not our small business contributed over 100,000 to the local town we live in. The taxes on that alone, I've calculated to be roughly 10 percent.

We'll get about 490,000 for everything and then we are gone south to open the same business and pay only 3%.

Lets not forget the entitlement attitude of the state employees. Or how about the "Law Enforcement is our economic savior" mentality? 400 cops per square inch arresting everyone for everything. Like the 65 year old woman who sold a bottle of beer to some dumb kids. I have to spend about 3 months a year in NY from NC and the rest is wonderful the minute you get out of the nanny state.

Please what? Welfare is .0001% of the budget. But the facts prevent you from complaining so why would you pay attention to those? Government employees cost more than 20 times as much. For what?

You need actual statistics to compare public service expenses with total welfare disbursements? There's no contest hands down. It doesn't cost 3-4 TRILLION a year for all their welfare. That's a CONSERVATIVE stat from http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/downchart... No contest. You need to focus and stop being so "oootican". You just gotta be from ooootica, only a ooootican would cry about pennies while thousands were going up in smoke for nothing but a "response" to 911 and the big bad world.
Get a clue get out of oootica and by the way get a real job.

As a share of population, New York said goodbye to more residents in the last decade than any other state. According to a stunning new report by the Empire Center, a project by the Manhattan Research Institute, more than 1.6 million New Yorkers moved out of state between 2000 and 2010.
The research, based on data from the latest US Census, showed that for the second consecutive decade New York was the country’s favorite place to leave. Moreover, the inflow of immigrants to New York, which has traditionally been strong enough to offset the loss of population, has fallen sharply as well. So, not only are more people leaving New York, but fewer are coming. Why?
let me guess taxes, taxes and more taxes. less and less services

Almost 1/6 of all your taxes are now going to pay pensions youre damn right its costing too much. Crime will always be here no matter how many staypuft rent a cops and their pensions you throw at the problem. It is a big part of what broke NY and made it so nobody in their right minds would ever come back. Add all the rest together, insurance fuel infrastructure nothing is going to cover paying them all their 4k a week no matter what they say. They won't even see the big pensions now that the funds are drying up.

For what? How about the fact that they CONTRIBUTE to society? I am sick of all you do-gooders with the mentality of the low percentage of the budget welfare is. If that is the case, why so so many lazy peopel move to NYS? I would rather pay retirement to folks that have worked for a living than to hand money, food stamps, medicaid, and HEAP, on top of all they other freebies they get, ie: school lunches, back packs filled with things working families can't afford..I could go on and on. I say cut out welfare completely and all those who feel the needy should get hand-outs, be my guest, knock yourself out. I bet if YOU had to contribute with money from your pocket you would not feel the same way. Better yet, welcome a needy family into your home and share your food, water, heat, adn living quarters with them.

Wow you spend a lot of time clocking what these supposed "welfare people" are doing with their benefits. I don't think you really know at all youre just one of those complainers that subconciously wishes they were poor and could get welfare food. The numbers dont lie it's nothing compared to the cost of the wars and all these extra police. You must live under a rock and not pay any taxes because if you did youd DAMN SURE be upset about the MAJOR expenses on our wallets. Stick to real priorities not your new yorker welfare jealousy complain game. Save that for one of the other threads where people get jealous over the welfare suckers food. God these people! You have waaay too much time on your hands if your thinking about THEM WELFARE PEOPLE you wouldn't say BOO to obvioulsy. They're feeding rats in Maryland with your money go whineass about that you priority challenged hate pump. Go cry about NASA that costs far more. If you're going to hate for its own sake and your own sad routine then bitch up and at least sound believable.

Just ignore the mud shark that responded. Tries to make it look like it cost 10 dollars to raise the trash when if fact it cost trillions.

More people should leave, see the refugees will work for dirt, they will be puppets to the gov, so instead of things getting better, they will get worse, the gov will start to take more and more to give to the trash. They won't say we are sick of being taxed, they will say we love the gov.

Great thing, feed cloth, medical, then they rob or kill.

That's like putting sharks on the beach, now you can't go in the water, or stay on the beach.

Don't worry, NY brought in a bunch of low skill immigrants and moved welfare people in from other states to make up for the loss.
