Whatís wrong with this country ? How can a temporary employment agency refuse to help find you a job? I have been unemployed for two years now and decided to try to go thru a temp services and everyone that I have called has told me that the really canít help me because I donít have the experience in any fields that they deal with. What kind of BS is this? I have worked in the mental health field for more than six years and prier to that I installed garage doors for thirteen years. Iím a 41 year old white male who feels like the system has let me down.

Maybe they don't have clients that are looking for your qualifications right now? Tell them you are decent in clerical work, and you'll get a mailroom job for a little bit...

Could it be that you went to them two years too late. Did you enjoy your two years of benefits, before looking for a job? Nobody in their right mind will hire you, when they know you have been just sitting around for two years. Your post should read 2008, not 18 min. ago.

I have not been on unemployment for two year because I was fired from my last job. I have been looking for work the whole time that I have been out of work. I have been living of my 401k which I payed into myself. There is no work in NYS and if there is they pay minimum wage. I can not support a family on that.

No. I'm pointing out that there is a need for clerical work.

You've been unemployed for 2 years? You're a loser. I see "now hiring" signs all over the place. Here's a clue you fat lazy prick, why don't you get YOURSELF a job and don't worry about someone else doing it for you.
Anyone unemployed for two years isn't looking very hard for work, you scumbag. Your the type of person that needs a beatin'.

You know I find it hard to believe your story. I too lost a job I have had for 13 years, due to cut backs. Very good job and a very good paycheck. Collected 400.00 a week for 20 weeks. Probably never worked harder during that time, in my whole life. And never stopped looking till I was hired.

I was hired by a company that hires for 9.00 per hour. Walked out of that interview with an offer twice the minimum wage. Might be the highest paid in my level of the company. And I willfully work 50 plus hours a week. Never been happier and love the job I couldn't believe I applied for. Never know till you try it...

Get off your butt, swallow your pride and get your hands dirty. No body called me and offered me a job, and nobody is gonna call you. Take what you can get, and look for better.

Of course you say you were fired. Sadly that does not make anybody eager to hire you. And not doing anything for two years, isn't a bullet point on your resume. You better get to McDonalds and show you can do work without being fired. Then shop for better...

Nope. Not when the weekly unemployment check is MORE without the bullshit.

you must be an older person or someone who has never worked in a right to work state. I've held contract positions in Texas and the hr director told me one day that the company could fire us if they didn't like our hairstyle but of course they would not say that. We were as disposable as Kleenex and with the new hire tax credits companies I worked for would routinely turn over their entire staff every 6 to 8 months. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with ones job ethic. That's a belief old republicans would try to have people believe.

At my last assignment I came in with a class of 50 people and in 8 months I was one of three people still there. Plus the company was ALWAYS hiring but would fire you for ANYTHING. The slightest mistake.

Would-be employers won't like that will they. You don't have to tell us, but you do have to tell them... and maybe they change their minds about you when they find out what you were fired for.

it's so crazy working for people now and you take so much bullshit many people are choosing to ride unemployment out until they find a suitable position. Most jobs now suck. Read my other posts.

Welcome to America! Only the low life's who do absolutely nothing for this country except for bleeding it dry actually get services and help from the system. I did everything I was told to do, finish high school, go to college, work, and graduate and find a career job. During that time I may have saw 150 bucks a semester in aid, while others got full tuition paid for. I am now post grad with 150 grand in student loan debt and there aren't any jobs for me. I pay $700 a month on my loans which is more than half my monthly pay. Talk about system failure, I would have went into the service, at least I would feel like I am doing something for this world.

Times are indeed tough. It took me 6 months to find a good paying job when I was out of work a couple years ago. I kept looking while making low pay, and now have a good job. But, being out of work is hard for anyone. My kid graduated from college, has quite a large amount of student loan to pay back. He couldn't find a job in his career field (NY State has a hire freeze in his field), so he found a job after several months of applying all over. Not making great pay, and he also spends almost a third of his salary on his loans. Ridiculous. They should prorate the payments based on what you currently earn. Get out of NY state. Brutal here. Taxes, utilities, gas, etc...all sky-rocketing, and pay increases remain at a stand still.

Hey idiot why work? Evidently you used up your two years of unemployment so why panic now? Claim some type of illness and collect ssi. Only idiots go to work especially when they work and still struggle. Let people talk but I get food rent and car insurance paid for me. My only problem is Im bored with life but bathsalts changed that. Every night is a new adventure. Oh yeah they pay for my bathsalts too.

Wow this situation sounds very frustrating. I'm not sure that I've heard of this kind of circumstance. However, most temporary employment agency will help you out as much as they can, no matter what kind of work experience you have or may be lacking. It's not the employments agency's job to judge or say that they refuse to help potential candidates. While I was unemployed earlier this year, I spent months on Google and just vetted all the sources on temporary employment agencies. There were a lot that were not so helpful. Finally I came across Hound.com and was put in touch with great recruiter who helped me with even the smallest of questions I had. I really think you should give it another shot.

Good luck to you!
