First of all, there's no such thing as a "real" American. You were all immigrants at one point, unless you're Native American, in which case you don't have to pay taxes, so you shouldn't be crying. We pay taxes like the rest of you. I do not know where you get your information from but it's wrong. America did not save us! They let us come to a country where work was available. Most Bosnians took advantage of that. We don't get any hand outs that aren't available for an American born citizen. The largest welfare recipients in this country are Blacks and Hispanics (research done by Heartland Institute). You shouldn't talk so lightly about genocide. If you had any morals whatsoever you would have some empathy to the suffering of any mankind, regardless of nationality. The death of 3,000 (boo hoo?) people in this country is the cause of OUR economy today, imagine what 200,000 would do. If there are individuals who talk bad about this country, well they have the right to do so. Freedom of speech belongs to us as much as it belongs to you. I would suggest you do some heavy reading and educate yourself. A holy book might do you some good as well.

Another uneducated smart-ass, Croats and Macedonians were on our side. The rest of the world considers Americans to be dumb, it's a shame, the bunch of you are proving them right.

If you are saying they get no breaks your lying....how bout giving the average American the same tax breaks for x amount of years that the immigrants do...If you were not born here then when you come here you should be afforded the same opportunity as an American and not get free handouts and no or reduced tax rates

There are no tax breaks! I am American born and married to an immigrant. If there were tax breaks I would know about them. Where do you get your information? Please provide some proof. I want actual facts, don't tell me about your friend's brother's cousin's boyfriend.

I wish there were many Bosnians in my city. I would have them teach me Bosnian and practice it every chance I got. You can learn so much from people of different cultures.

As if your ancestors weren't immigrants! Get some class and stop being an embarrassment to your country. Whining about immigrants and how "soft" their lives are? Are you NUTS? Maybe your family should go back where it came from, too, eh?

Fine. My family arrived here in the early 1600s. We were immigrants. If you showed up 200 years later, maybe WE should have told YOU to get back on the boat. The United States of America IS a nation of immigrants. Get over your "real" American self. You're one sick puppy if you think a country that made room for your pathetic lineage can't make room for theirs. Two hundred lousy years and you think you own the place.

Do you have some documentation? I have never heard of that program. Are you confusing that with the welfare to work program where the government gives taxe breaks to businesses that hire people on public assistance? I keep hearing about Bosinans being tax exempt and I know for a fact that it is not true. I am asking that you show me where that information came from. I just think we need to clear up that rumor because it is causing a lot of unecessary hate.

No such thing as "real americans"? This is always something that foreigners say. My family has been here for over 200 years. I was borne in the good old USA. The difference between a "real" American and an imported one:
1) you can be deported if you are arrested for a serious crime no matter how long you have been here. I can't be.
2) I can be president ....you cant
You foreigners have no clue what being American is....that is why you bring your culture here and we laugh at it. I really feel that America should shut its doors. We cant even take care of our own people let alone some refugees who only become a burden on the tax payers. Times have changed, America is full. Stay in your country and I'll stay in mine.
Actually, I am a citizen, I can't be deported and I wouldn't want to be the president of a country that thinks it's acceptable that a president graduate college with a C+. You're right, you can't take care of your own people, luckily for you, we take care of ourselves. I'll say this once more and maybe some of you idiots will catch on, WE PAY TAXES TOO. Please tell me what it means to be American.

I was born here. My great great great great grandparents were born here. I am an American citizen. A person who came here from Bosnia or the Sudan or Vietnam or Nicaragua and who fulfilled US citizenship requirements is a citizen. Being born here is a lucky accident for which you can't take any credit. Shame on you.

Shows how smart you foreigners really aren't. Any citizen not born in the USA CAN be deported for serious crimes. It happens all the time. You tell me what it means to WANT to be American....than I will tell you what it means to be American. I'm proud of my country....I didn't abandon it. I'm still getting a kick out of a foreigner telling me how American they are. I'll you what block head its funny you say talk shit about a president with a C+ when your own shit hole country doesn't go beyond the 5th grade. I bet you used to crowd around your 13" tv back in bosnia and tune into American. Your a scab on society who ran from their own country when the going got tough. Your not AMERICAN....just ask someone who was born here. You'll always be a block head bosnian.
Let me tell you how it really works. When you become a citizen of another country you can either get dual-citizenship,(if your country allows it), or you can decided that you only want to be a citizen of the country you're currently living in. Now if you're convicted of a serious crime, they don't just air drop you into the country you were born in. If the country you're born in doesn't want you back, the United States has to keep you. They can take certain rights away but those are easily gained back, if you have money.

Mr.Im so proud of my country, I didn't abandon it. Well you're not exactly fighting for it either now are you? When thousands of men and women went overseas to fight, you sir sat at your computer.

For your information, we have colleges too!

I was raised here, work here, and go to college here, I would say that I'm more of a credible source than you on what it means to be American because I have been assimilated into this culture.

I might have not been born here but my children will be.

It's sad that all of you have so much to say but know so little. I cannot believe how many uneducated people there are in a country where education is so accessible. You can sit here and call us scum, trash and any other words you can think of but all that shows is who the real low-class scum is. Unlike you I won't generalize people. I know some of the most wonderful Americans.

p.s I start med-school after this semester, wish me luck!

Unbelievable, that was a great post. Congratulations on medical school. I agree with you that in a country with free access to education, it is unconscionable that so many people manage to remain illiterate and ignorant.

Thank you Good Grief. If your ancestors saw the amount of ignorance and hate in some of you, they would turn in their graves. We should teach our children the importance of diversity and judging on an individual basis. You sound like a bunch of little school children bullying others because of your own low self-esteem. I live in Syracuse and have never heard anyone talk like this. Professors, peers and co-workers are interested in learning about different cultures. I bring food to work and everyone absolutely loves it. It seems that you Uticans are bitter and have nothing better to do than make 100 topics about Bosnians. How about asking an intelligent question to understand people better, whether it's Bosnians or other cultures. I know I will never be able to say enough to open your eyes and make better people out of you. All in all I know that my life will never be as miserable as yours because I don't have an ounce of hate for anyone. I have taken advantage of the opportunities in this country and also have been able to keep a part of my culture. You should all be ashamed of yourselves and I'm not talking as a Bosnian but a human.

I'm happy to have the Bosnians here. Maybe our little friend Bruce needs to find a place where he can isolate himself with his own kind, whatever that is. Cultural diversity is good for Utica. Always has been. Shoo, little Brucie. Go back where you came from.
