Nine months of winter. No decent jobs. Insanely high taxes. And much of Utica is decaying and butt-ugly. Please. Somebody. Fund my move to South Carolina. Thanks.

I would move to Florida right now, if I could only figure out how to get all my friends and family to move there with me. I think the biggest reason most of us put up with living in this dirty little hell of a city is that we don't want to be far from those we want to be close to. Let's start a campaign to get everyone to leave this place together. Our slogan could be "Last one out of Utica, turn off the light. Don't be the last one!"

Half the population is at a 3rd grade reading level so a sh*tty paper doesn't matter.

Because we can't make enough money in order to save enough money to leave. It's a little ironic that poverty is the reason we stay.
DO NOT Move Here

We don't need any more transplants.

You fuckershave been ruining my home state for over 5 decades, so it isn't much better than where you are, unless you're Native.

Then you get into the Secret Real Floridians Club.

Try Atlanta. Or Houston. New Orleans, if you can stand it.

I would leave New Hartford in a heartbeat now that my youngest has graduated from High School. The problem is that the New Hartford housing market is flat and declining. No one with wealth is moving here and I would take a major loss selling my home. The only people moving here are middle class former Utica residents escaping that disaster. New Hartford is slowly declining under the burden of high taxes and no job.

For those smug New Hartford residents who think they are safe think again. New Hartford is like the bow of a sinking ship temporally pushed above the water by the stern sinking below the waves. That stern is Utica and it will drag New Hartford down with it.

Come on people, don't make your surroundings control you, be diligent and strong willed enough to control it. I made a little under $75,000 last year mowing lawns, planting and trimming bushes, leaf removal, and some minor snow plowing for residential locations. I also took on some minor handy man type services for some of the seniors that still live and want to stay in their homes as long as possible. Their is a ton of money out there to be made, you just have to go after it, it doesn't come looking for you. Your demographic area determines what services are available for you to go after. It's easy to sit on your butt and complain about how bad things are for you, but who's fault is that really? I mean really!!!
