Good...if you like wasting money!
Bad...if you need an education and don't enjoy forced multiculturalism or pc minority quotas.

Don't listen to people's comments. Everybody's experiences are different. MVCC ranks in the top 10 community colleges in the nation. It's close to home and super cheap. The staff is great and flexibe with the needs of students. I graduated in 2006 and I was able to transfer all my credits to a SUNY school and currently I am working on my masters. This was all thanks to MVCC. Trust me, it may be a small school but great professionals and leaders are made there :-)

This from a high school drop-out. Not many college educated people would knock MVCC, thus my conclusion that you Frank are a troll. Those that are educated know that no matter where one chooses to attend, "college is what you make of it".

MVCC is a "hold my hand, mommy" college because incoming freshmen can't do anything for themselves.

Is that beanie wearing weirdo still there staring at people? I think his only function in life is to walk around campus center & library and stare at people.

MVCC is what you make it of it. If you come in ready to work and do well, then it will serve you well. If you go in with a bad attitude similar to a few of the comments above, you may not do so well. As with any school, there is good and bad. MVCC has a lot to offer and plenty of resources, but you need to take the initiative to take full advantage. Ask questions, find out what you need and if they have it. Stick to a plan, get involved, communicate with your advisor and instructors and enjoy the experience.

Good luck to you!

Id like to know where you got that ranking from, believer.

According to The Washington Monthly, College Rankings, Community College Week and the Aspin Institute, MVCC does not appear.

If you are really considering going to MVCC, go ahead and take your money, make a big pile of it, and set it on fire.

MVCC and HCCC are both high schools with dormitories. The diplomas make good toilet paper though, especially when people proudly present them to me at interviews LOL

Gee, believer, I know you disagree with me but at least you could comment instead of just judging my post.

I gave links to support my position. Please, provide us with a site that says MVCC ranks in the top 10 nationally, as you said it did.

Pulling your "facts" out of your ass again?

Brilliance. It shows how much you don't understand the concept of a community college. It's not meant to be Harvard. It's meant to be a place where people can improve or gain their skills. Your comments demonstrate that you are the worst person to pass judgement. Most people at MVCC have more class than you.

So, if you are hiring someone, you think less of them because they went to MVCC? Why? Why are you demeaning someone who took the initiative to go to school?

You are wrong and you probably wouldn't last more than a day or two in classes with your mentality.

I Love MVCC, They Have Many Different Cultures, Very Pleasant Teachers, Students! It Doesnt Matter If Your Young Or Older, They Treat Everyone The Same! They Also Help You When Your Struggling Which Higher League School DO NOT DO Like SunyIt! The Only Things I Would Change About The School Is Preparation For A Higher Education, When You Transfer To A Different School For Bachelors Degree! I Also Would Change The Criteria That A Course..example being When You Transfer Most Of Your Classes Dont Transfer With You, So You End Up Taking Them For Nothing! Plus Some Classes You Dont Even Need To Take For Certain Degrees And You Dont Find Out Until You Transfer To Different College!

It's okay. If you take night classes teachers can be iffy. Find out if your teachers are Professors (meaning they have their Masters in Education) or if they are "adjunct" .....as in Masters in something ....not necessarily what you are taking. Not many "good" teachers will be find working the "odd" hours - like a night class.

Do not expect much in the way of funds, grants, & scholarships. They do not seem to recognize "academic excellence", other than putting you on a Dean's List.

However, for a 2-year college it's fine. Affordable, educational, and an okay start for your education.

Parking sucks, so arrive to class early. Good luck with your future!

it's like anyplace else-you get out what you put in. there's alot of angry and lazy profs-lee sits in the hall and reads newspapers while he shows movies-the eng. dept doesn't do much-one guy handed in a 5 page paper in one long sentence-i said to him "you gotta pass 101 to graduate guy" he said "i did & 102 & british lit 1 & 2"-he passed FOUR english classes and cannot write a sentence.one gal didn't know that the pyramids of egypt were in egypt-and she got an A-then she transferred and flunked out-she was phi beta kappa-but there's good ones there too-just don't expect much from the staff-they don't like students.

MVCC is a very good place to start, no matter what degree you ultimately end up going for and you save a boatload of money by attending a community college first. I started at MVCC and when I transferred to a 4 year college 2 years later all of my credits transferred. What I really liked about MVCC is that many of the students also worked 30 hours or more a week (I worked 30 hours a week and took 21 credits during one semester) so the professors understood the needs of the working students, as opposed to what the more traditional students were looking for. I would highly suggested MVCC (or any community college) to anyone. You really can't go wrong.
