I think its bullshit that they can scan your plates &i we allow it. The kind of thing that anyone, law abiding or not would not favor. Regardless of who you are, you dont need to know anything about the car in front of you. If I cant talk on a cellphone how can a cop be on a computer& its fine? Thats great for public safety. Its not about being a criminal, everyone is to an extent, especially every cop youve ever met. Takes 1 to know 1. What troubles me is the ACLU hasn't shut this down yet, as once again, not the cop homself, whos a tool, but those instructing them, the real criminals, are winning yet again. Fuck the ppl who are behind it. I advocate anything that helps shut these people down, & will help bring us to a true democracy. Ty, im a single father who has bills. My car just died and i have a shitty truck that ive been having probs getting registered.... but i cant drive it unless i have money. But i cant make money if i dont drive, &i i go to jail if i cant make money n pay child support (which i do every week). Thats my reality &i im thankful for this thread pc all.

So to be legal someone needs to have plates on a car. Correct? Any info that can be obtained by the plate numbers could be done manually by officers or automated through these readers. Correct? How is having the readers all of a sudden unconstitutional and violate your rights? im serious. Someone please explain this to me.

I take a pass on more than half of the potential ticket writing and arresting. When I ask a guy if he has warrants and he tells me yes for failure to appear I cut him loose. Agressive driving? Warning. Potential trespassing? Convince manager he wn't be back and cut him loose. A little coke weed or meth? Destroy the dope, not the man. I have cut 500 of these guys loose. The Aholes don't get cut loose, just the good Joes. The system shouldn't be concerned with good guys and I am the judge of that. I don't win promotions or awards for poor numbers, and the chief knows how I operate. So don't be an azz or lie about your warrant. Once I run your name in the computer I have to arrest you. Tell the truth and be cool. No problem? Goooooooood! If the Torrance Police would have been dikken around with a coke whore or a meth head, we wouldn't have nailed the terrorists who were working on bombing the LA Airport. See how "pigs" are good? GOOOOOOD!

Just a thought from an electronics guy...The ANPR/ALPR systems use infrared cameras with optical character recognition. The cameras obviously detect the alphanumeric code your plate has by illuminating the reflective background to produce an extremely bright contrast between the two colors of your plate to read/scan it. Though they are illegal in most states, like say California, could you build a license plate frame that looks like rhinestones/diamonds going all the way around the plate? Rather than using rhinestones, use ultra-high intensity LED light modules to over-illuminate the ANPR camera? Your license plate frame with LED's would be cheap to build, energy efficient to power, last at least ten years and "blind" the ANPR's Infrared camera??? Any geeks/electronics guys out there have any input on this? Are there IR LED's out there powerful enought to make your license plates look like just a big bright light - Only the camera would see the light, so it wouldn't make your license plates look like a christmas tree? Would love to hear the science/electronics guys/gals response to this...

You're the kind of cop we need more of. I can't get insurance or a license, I have to work. I drive the speed limit, wear my seatbelt and pay attention to other drivers. I mitigate all the risks that I can to insure that I have no reason to be looked at twice. These scanners scare the hell out of me, how can I be upfront with a scanner? I can't level with it, it doesn't have a heart or a brain to make the decision to use descretion when scanning. Kudos to you for being a good cop! Keep it up.

Ok, I've been reading a bunch of these posts and the vast majority are against police state intrusion into their lives by spy cameras on every block, license plate readers, 2 billion dollar waste of tax payers money on a super computer that listens to all phone communications in the USA (located in Utah),breaking the fourth Amendment (the Bill of Rights) of the Constitution invading our privacy, stomping on our right to free assembly with "free speech zones", attempting to destroy the 2nd amendment---it goes on and on. The two headed monster we call the Democrats and Republicans are one in the same and don't represent our Liberty any longer. The majority of people are against government police state intrusion into their lives and want their country back. The law is the law alright, but the most recent laws don't reflect what the people want for their country. The people don't want a police state. As Ben Franklin stated, when questioning the police state tactics of the British empire, and the reaction of loyalists, "people who place security before Liberty deserve neither. The same holds true today. Nothing has changed. If our government has become tyrannical than we must try as we can to change it to reflect the laws of the Constitution that protect us from government police state tyranny. The two parties we have are both tyrannical or we would not be experiencing a police state in our country. Next time you vote---vote for a third party that is concerned about how the Constitution is being trampled on.

If its a right then why do we have to Pay to get our permit, pay to get our license, pay to have a vehicle inspected, mandated , mandated to have them insured, and pay and pay and pay, we have to pay to drive on certain roads, doesnt sound like a right to me, sounds liek a privilege, the govt allows you drive, if you meet the requirements, if you pay them and pass the tests. Where in the constitution does it say you have the right to drive?

Heres a question for ya! When did our servants start feeling the right to give us (their Masters) priveleges? In my world my servants get priveleges from me NOT vice-versa! And to the numbnut that said "stop breaking the law", we don't. We honor the state and federal Constitutions consistently. Unlike our rogue servants who swear an oath, giving their words as men that they will honor, uphold, obey and defend those very same Constitutions only to spit on their pledge everyday afterwards. THEY clealr are the Law breakers!!!

The right to drive is not in the Constitution (the term "drive" is a legal, corporate term meaning to operate a "Vehicle" in commerce.) the Right to travel without fear or fee however, is a God given, inalienable, Constitutionally protected right, PERIOD!!!!!

These things look for the reflective paint of your plates. If you can stop the reflection it stops the readers from even "seeing" your plate and there goes their $40 thousand dollar toy. If you spray the plates with Testor's Dullcoat or Krylon flat "crystal clear" spraypaint with a thick coat it will kill the reflecting property but the plate looks the same to the naked eye. Not advocating illegal driving but some people need to put food on the table lol!
