Because it's a product, like milk, eggs, cheese, toilet paper and beer. The companies that produce those products can set the price at whatever they want in our free market system. The public has the choice whether to buy products that are too expensive--or not. We all "need" gas, but we all "need" toilet paper, too. The hope is always that it's affordable enough to keep on living and buying with getting too pissed off at their greed. But it doesn't always work that way.

The word "intelligent" or any form or synonym of that word should never be associated with you.

Hey milk dud, once again, the president has nothing to do with the price of gas. You are boring, uneducated, and obnoxious!!
one of the causes of high gas prices is the value of the dollar, our US dollar is worth less due to recession therefore when buying goods such as crude oil from other countries we pay more. Companies pass the added cost to the customer. Example ordered goods from Australia 4 yrs ago US dollar was worth almost twice as much as AUS dollar therefore I paid half the listed cost. 2 yrs ago ordered from same company our dollar is now equal to thiers so paid list price.

because ppl will pay their rediculous prices rather than sit home or take a bus, ppl arent starving to death paying outrageous prices for gas, not quitting their job's, they just keep throwing it on the credit card going deeper and deeper into debt for it and not complaining about it and protesting it by parking their vehicles. If everyone in cities stopped driving for a month you'd see prices back down to probably the $1 a gallon range, where they should be. What reason do the big oil companies have for needing the rediculous profits they've been collecting for the past few years? Those greedy bastards won't stop until everyone is living in a cardboard box and have lost everything they own for what? Gasoline? Its straight up bullshit and the only way to do anything about it is to stop purchasing their products. Yeah, it would be a complete pain in the ass having to ride over crowded busses and not coming and going as we are accustomed to, but the end result would totally be worth it. Can you imagine the panic the oil companies would be in by the end of the second or third week of such an occurance?

The oil companies always have some bullshit excuse for raising prices. Why do we have to pay more for all the stoppages due to hurricanes,etc... When are they going to take part of the loss instead of passing it on to people who can least afford it? They should be required to have adequate storage to avoid massive price increases due to small disruptions. We all know it's just plain fucking greed!

Let's see, I've told you lowlifes before:

We have less competition.
Less distributors.
Less money.
Less intelligence.
More dumb answers from AAA.
2 refineries have closed.
High taxes.
More excuses.
It can take a couple of weeks to see the LOWER price because of the gas already in the tanks. But that doesn't explain how or why it can go up twice in a day or 3 times in a week.
Obama has nothing to do with it.
Leave your 4 wheel drives home.

I have all the answers!

We live in the welfare county of the world where only reugees and welfare recipiens live. Nobody that works in the City actually lives there so what money gets put back? None. Everyone lives off the system while the small middle class that still exists is dwindling down. It's only a matter of time until this City is filled with ONLY refugees and welfare lifers. Then we'll see just where this City is heading. Sad part is it's already there and nobody will stop the influx of burdens on society. We just keep signing them up without any real look into our future. It's sad this City is funded by these refugees who in-turn provide ZERO for anybody other than themselves.

So when you ask why gas is $4+ at the pump, take a look around. Realize that the only people affected by gas prices are the middle class workers. The same group of people that pay for not only the poors mistakes but the rich too. When our County hands over gas cards to the welfare recipients daily to get their 7 kids to the hospital, McDonalds, and themselves to the bar, then you can thank them. Because if you're not technically paying for anything what does the cost really matter?
