Ok...I recently retired north of Utica and want to enjoy the best Italian food joints around.

Is the Savoy in Rome worth the drive??

Grimaldi's......Delmonico's... .....what's the scoop??

The Savoy is a great Italian Restaurant (Old School). Marinara sauce and spaghetti sauce (Made with Pork Butt), meatballs, lasagna are all made by the same lady for the last 35+ years. Great weekend specials.

Joe's has good fried peppers. The remainder of their menu is garbage.

slave labor...they still pay her $250 a week like they did 35+ yrs ago...poor lady...doesn't know any better to go anywhere else and make more money....so many chefs come and go...wasn't one arrested for robbing a bank in Canasota yrs ago?
Wow. Adjusting for inflation 250 a week 35 years ago was a lot of money. They must be keeping her salary the same to make up some of that money.

You know as little about restaurants as you do about hockey.

Well if they were paying her 250 a week 35 years ago that's the equilivant of 880 dollars in today's money. I guess you missed that day in school when they taught how to use an inflation calculator.

And my hockey knowledge is just fine buddy.

Go anywhere else? She is 76 years old, lol. She is happy where she is otherwise she wouldn't be there 35 years. Her meatballs and sauce would BEAT any restaurant in Central NY and would give some of the best NYC Italian restaurants a run for there money!

All good joints, past and present. When in Rochester, try Roncone's, Antonetta's and Rocky's: the Italian Triangle. When in Buffalo, Chef's is top notch.

Valley View used to be good, became inconsistent, now, below average.
Chesterfield was the best for a few years; good run. Now, hit or miss.
Georgios; always great food.

yes i have been to Roncones, very good, have you ever been to salvatores out by buffalo?, i havent been there in probaly 15 years but the last time i was there it was great, the only downfall is you will easily spend $100 on dinner without tips and a drinks

the best italian food we have around here anymore is The Franklin and The Savoy....no offense utica but all your good REAL italian restaurants are now sadly gone.........at lets not even get started on the wonder bread italian place called delmonicos
