Get Dish TV and learn some hacks. VERY easy. There you go free TV wide open and undetectable.

Why were you surprised? Rate hike stories have been all over the news for at least a month. If you have cable and are this uninformed, you might as well cancel.

Get rid of HBO & the DVR. Join Netflix & watch all the movies you want for a hell of a lot less than the thieves from TW.

I'm wondering if those who have switched away from TW can chime in with a serious discussion about it. My bill too has now reached well over $200 and that is the phone, cable, internet service with 2 DVRs. No HBO or anything like that.

I need the Internet access at home. There are shows the kids like to watch but we certainly don't watch that many channels. Like the sports channels. Still have them for home phone.

When you break it down that ends up about 60 per month for the phone, nearly $100 for the cable and then another 60 plus for Internet. That is out of control.

I know many have dropped their land line in favor or cell phones. There are also phone options through Verizon and some others with Internet based calls and have seen things through Straightalk for like $20 unlimited per month.

How are the Dish or Direct TV options for people?

Is there another good high speed internet option?

Maybe if TW didn't have TW commercials every ten minutes of programming they'd be able be keep prices the same. If you call and say you're going to dish they'll at least drop your monthly rate a bit. We did and they dropped it $40.

I was just talking to a friend with Dish. He loves it. He has so many more staTIONS FOR LESS MONEY. mINE WENT UP TOO THIS MONTH EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A "PROMOTIONAL RATE" (Sorry for the caps, my computer's a little messed up!) I plan on no more land line, a track phone, investing in a wireless router, Roku, and then doing my internet and TV through Direct TV. After a long conversation with my Bud, it appears we'll be getting much more, for less money. He also cites that the service is great, they add channels on a regular basis, and don't up your bill! Hey think about it, I don't think Diddy does anything for nothing. We're paying his appearance fee. The funniest thing I noticed on the bill this month, is that we are now paying an almost $4 monthly fee for the guide. Sneaky bastards! I almost called them, but didn't feel like wasting my breath. Start shopping for other options. They are able to offer other people $79.95 Bundles on the backs of their 20 year customers! "F" them! The worst part of it is they think we're stupid and we are if we remain their customers!

There are so many commercials that tv is practically unwatchable. Wasn't the original purpose of PAY TV to eliminate or at least minimize commercials? I am definitely not getting my money's worth from TWC and am about ready to dump cable completely. With all the money they make from the endless commercials, they ought to PAY US to watch!

Has anyone tried those pre-pay home numbers through things like Straight talk or even the Verizon options where you use your internet connection connected to their device to use as your home phone service? I seem to recall it was perhaps 10-20 per month for unlimited calls and maybe $50 for the device. That would be way cheaper than TWC phone service.

Are people keeping TWC internet when they switch to dish and other phone options?

Verizon and the other wireless companies are killing me nearly as badly as TWC these days but between cell phones and TWC it has gotten crazy.

I tried that. Told me nothing she could do unless I dropped my internet speed (I have standard). Or, dropped my channels down. I don't have any of the pay channels. So, I'm screwed.

Sadly, we can't even pick the channels WE want! Here, I'm looking for a reduction, she's trying to sell me more!!!

When my Time Warner bill for TV, Phone, and internet went up to $180.00 per month I dropped them and went with Direct TV. The problem is Direct TV couldn't provide me with internet in my area so I had to keep Time Warner for internet only and went with Vonage for my land line. One year after all the promotion prices expired from Direct TV, I'm pretty much in the same boat with about $170.00 for all three today. Bottom line, you just can't win these days with these providers. They lure you in with special promotional prices but when it expires, you're no better off for the most part. Does anyone know if Dish Network provides TV, Phone and internet?
That is often my concern too. It really does bother me that TW offers new customers such a reduced price compared to the long-standing customers. I understand the world of marketing and growing the customer base, but when they can add new subscribers for less than half the cost, either we are subsidizing them or they are grossly over charging us.

At over $220 a month I've just about had it!

Its not about the movies. I get HBO for the series. Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, Real Time with Bill Maher, etc. and I don't think u can get those all on Netflix + you would have to wait until the season was over.

When you earn 300+K per yr like stepdad maybe she'll let you, but you have a better chance bagging a Herkimer cow from the sounds of it.

Do your own homework and a little searching do NOT "ASK AROUND" locally and tell NO ONE not even a good friend or jealous cops will raid you like they did up there about ten years back. For around $350 you buy a custom card and programmer. About 2x a year you flash a new series code and viola you're done. One time cost vs. ongoing fees that increase? No contest.

Call TW and complain about your bill. This is what I did and they lowered it down from $185 to $120 which price is frozen for 1 year. I have digital phones, Roadrunner Internet, and the Cable Box with over 1,000 Channels, plus 2 TVs with Cable Plus Cannels only.

My friend only has Basic Cable and was paying $85/month. She called and got it lowered to $50 a month.
