Who are the local cashiers making 30K per year? I know there are plenty of them. I heard one girl bragging the other day how she and her friends who all work in retail are bringing home over 2,500 dollars per month.
Do you know how much money you would have to make to bring home $2500 a week? They have to be making over $40k a year. I don't think a cashier is making over $40k unless its a family business and over paying a family member.

So whats your point? We all need money to survive, the more the better. Good for them who ever they are.

Let's be realistic here, shall we? No offense to any cashiers out there because if you're making an honest living, you should be applauded. That being said, let's be honest. A cashier position is not exactly a technical position that requires intelligence or talent. Therefore, it should be paid accordingly. Any job that anyone off the street can do within 5 minutes of walking thru the door should not earn big dollars. Yes people need a living wage, but everyone should have the incentive and the motivation to better themselves. It's not the responsibility or burden of the rest of society to pay anyone a high wage for low menial labor. It's your own responsibility to learn as much as you can in any company you work for and try to better yourself.

You are correct, any one can do the job with little knowledge or training, But very few can do it while having to deal with the inconsiderate general public. Ladies; cashiers owe you nothing! I watched a young maybe 30year old make a bag boy load her few bags into the car while she text away couldn't even say thank you. I worked retail for a very long one year and from the management pushing me to get every customer to open a credit account to chasing customers around the store and seal the deal? never ever again not for any wage.

There are many jobs that require a person to deal with the inconsiderate general public. It's part of the responsibility and if anyone has an issue with that, then they need to find another job. Dealing with the inconsiderate public while doing a job a monkey can do, still does not warrant excessive pay for such a menial position that barely requires a person to have a pulse in order to be successful at the position.

$15 per hour/40 hours per week. That's all it takes to make $30000 per year. It's entirely possible for a cashier to earn that.

Most places only hire cashiers as part time help. It is usually a stepping stone to a better position. It is doubtful this is true.

It said 2500.00 per month NOT per week. Learn to read.

Thank you, I'll take that as a compliment. The fact of the matter is that my post about the situation is dead on accurate. And since you can't argue my post with logic, you resort to calling me a condescending jerk. Rather than take offense at my post, maybe you should stop the denial and try to do something more with your life than being a cashier. Once again, a job that anyone can do with little or no training or intelligence. Like it or not, that is the fact of the situation. Sorry if you have a difficult time dealing with the reality of it.

$30K/ annually...you have to know if thats gross or net. It's entirely possible but very highly improbable. If their duties strictly were confined to a cash register, if their position was a 40 hrs./week and if they worked every minute of OT that was available...their end-of-year gross could put them at $30K. But straight time....no stocking shelves...no unloading trucks or working on paperwork in the office...just working the jewish piano with no other duties...NO F-ING WAY. Get over yourself.
