Chanatry's thread

"Chanatry's panhandlers" is on the list of topics but won't open. I assume someone whined about it. What a sad world when you can't object to someone shoving a donation can in your face when you enter or leave a grocery store. It's bad practice and it should be stopped. A lot of old people use that store and do not like it and they can barely afford to buy their food as it is. The kids need to have their parents pay for their activities themselves and not expect strangers to do it. Go out and EARN it.

Did you sit at a table and not annoy people or did you shove a can in their face and beg? It makes a huge difference, dolly. Method and manners are everything. I give to the charities of my choice and I do it in my time and I do it frequently but I do NOT want to be annoyed when I grocery shop. Lots of people like to have a choice of when and who they give to and not feel forced because someone is tugging at your pant leg. So don't get your back up because not everyone wants to donate when YOU want them to. Your tactics are no better than the United Way's bullying.

Get a life. If you don't want to give then just say "no thank you" and move on. You friggin old people really piss me off. The world doesn't revolve around you just because you managed to hang around earth so long. If it is that much of a problem to tell the kids "no", then go to WalMart. Bill Chanatry is kind enough to let these people ask for donations at HIS store and you have to bitch about it. Bill is one of the most generous people around. You should follow his example.

What makes you think anyone is old? I've seen twenty somethings tell these beggars to buzz off. It's like swatting flies. You must be a parent that wants everyone to pay for your kids. Go out and get a job and pay for your own brats or use birth control. I can tell that hanging around earth so long isn't going to be a problem for you, asshole.

hahaha--you must be one of the pathetic scraggly parents that let their spawn trip people coming out of the store while you sit on your fat butt smoking--I would expect as much from the likes of you. Fork it over for your own little turds--you screwed around and brought them into the world, now pay for them. Don't invoke Bill chanatry's name, you goon. He would boot you to the curb if he had time to see what you do outside the store.

In may they were collecting for little league. There was a 300 pound toothless wonder of a parent sitting on the bench outside with a collection can in front of him. The kid was taking a leak on the building..it was disgusting.

I'm 32 years old, I have three kids and I pay through the nose for all of their activities. I don't resent paying because I'm the one who signed them up. I shop at Chanatry's. When a kid comes up to me begging for money, it gets on my nerves. If I can work full time and pay for their extra activities so can the slob parents who sit and watch their kids beg. Bill should reconsider this. It is a public nuisance.

I noticed that it was missing as well. GIVE ME A BREAK...all of the idiotic, moronic, racist crap that goes on on TOPIX and they DELETE a legitimate thread? Friggin' amazing!!!! And I still say that allowing people (often children) to hang out on weekends at Chanatry's and annoy customers by begging for funds to support all kinds of causes is obnoxious and does little except to teach kids to be beggars. IMHO they should find projects to EARN the money. I have a hard time supporting the businesses that allow and encourage this activity and I'm amused that someone is threatened by our opinions on this topic.

Can't help but wonder what percentage(if any) actually goes to the cause they say they are collecting for. The big charities spend most of their donations on CEO benefits and salary. Wonder if the canister is opened on the way home and 10% or less gets turned in. Something to think about next time you see some anonymous kid collecting for "little league." You don't even know for sure whether it's legit or whether he's being used as a pawn.

I don't shop at chanatrys because of the old women who block the aisles with their shopping carts and bullshit so you can't get thru. "Irma...how are ya? Hows your lumbago? I saw your daughter today. Is she pregnant or packing on the pounds?" Then I say excuse me and try to get thru and they look at me cross-eyed.

Stop being dramatic, a couple kids sitting at a table isn't bullying you.. I go to chanatry's all the time never have had to say more than no thank you when asked to donate..

Be fair and think for a minute, bubba. Your experience there is not everyone's experience. Maybe you look like an unapproachable, ugly, mean, tub-o-lard SOB and the beggars don't want to try out there wheedling skills on you. I have seen these conniving little bastards block the way of friendly looking people on their way out the door. They stand right in their way and will not move until you tell them to back off. No drama, just rude little beggars and the sloths they call parents.
