What the hell will someone want to keep a graduation uniform for if they can't use it? A lot of other schools do not bother with doing grad uniforms until they are pretty sure they are graduating.

Then maybe you need to pick a school that lets YOU make all the rules. MVCC isn't the only nursing school in the world, but I guarantee that if you balk at THIS requirement, it will be just the tip of the iceberg, and maybe you should consider a line of work that doesn't have so many bothersome, nitpicky rules. Don’t expect to be a free spirit in nursing school.

i personally don't like josies, but the point of school is to learn how to follow rules something no of these girls feel thay have to do . i have know idea who told them they were better than everyone else but i have seen they way they act and it is a disgrace to themselves and their school .

I heard there was some sort of law that says if you pay for your items out of pocket then you can't be forced to buy from any one place for supplies for school. Anyone who has funding on the other hand though will have to stick with the vender the school deals with as they are setup for payment from the school.

If I were a store though I wouldn't size up anyone before students agree to pay for the items or any orders before being sized up. If you want shop service then you are to pay for what they do. If you feel you are being gouged by the provider then find out the exact items required and go elsewhere to compare for a fare price as school items are generally expensive just like tuition.

Just like the school cannot force you to buy books from their book store it also applies to any goods. Students, if you pay for your stuff then get your stuff where ever you feel and report the school to the state boards if the teachers or directors tell you any different.

Who is getting the kickback from that and in what form? The teacher needs to be investigated.

Students can go anywhere for supplies. Students pay for the service.

Not for nothing....if one is paying for uniforms for school and can get the same outfit brands elsewhere via locally or internet, then why am I forced it seems to buy from Josies if I am paying out of pocket. The shop makes us buy tops, already with the school patches on them, but I choose to shop around and being they have the shirts with the patches, I feel like I am forced to buy it from them.

Schools need to provide the patches to the students who are self pays and then go to get the same brand and style number outfits and put patch on themselves.

Its like being forced to buy books from the bookstore costing way more with the school name printed on the cover, but the book is the same anywhere else that carries it for a little cheaper.

You will save about $400.00 buying your books online for nursing, also check craigs list.

If you don't like the rules then don't play the game. No one is forcing you to go to school.

I would buy the outfits anywhere I please and make the school give me the patch. I believe its illegal to force students to buy at one place if they are paying for it. I know it is the same for school books and should be the same for uniforms. If they think they can get around it by having patches on shirts already then its tough luck for josies. The school needs to provide the patches since josies is not the one Goo.g to school. Why does the store have school patches on hand anyway. I am going to look into this further.

The school makes the rules for their program. They've had the rule for a long time. Instead of all the conspiracies on here, it's much more likely that they wanted a specific thing accomplished, and requiring purchasing from Josie's accomplished that thing.

Nancy Caputo used to run that program, and she knew EXACTLY what she was doing.

Let us know how your investigation goes, investigator.

You are not forced to buy their very, very expensive collection of books, buy them from a former student from last year. They are the same books they are using this year.

all I know is that nobody liked going there and having to buy their outfits when you can get them at other suppliers. They make you go there because the school patches are on the shirts and student have to get them already done instead of getting the patches and doing it yourself. As long as one has the same brand and same style then its fair game where and how one gets their outfits if they are paying out of pocket.

Rules means forcing in my book to put cash in someone else pocket instead of having an opportunity to shop other places.

this should be the same for their uniforms. the school gives the uniform shop the patches and they add them to the shirts forcing us to go there rather than give the students the patches and students put it on themselves on the same brand and style outfits possibly purchased elsewhere. Some live out of the area and can get them online; some may live near another shop out of town that too can provide and some just may in fact get them at their shop. Bottom line is that the students do not get a choice to shop anywhere else but that location.

Last time I bought uniforms from Josie's they gave me a 10% student discount, I don't know if they still do that though. As for buying books from a different source other than the bookstore be sure you are getting the right edition, they can change from year to year or even semester.

10% aint nothing to give for a discount anyway...their prices are probably 10% more than what they should be then I am sure.
