I've been with state for 30 years have had with 3 promotions .....getting 2 degrees to get those promotions........work double shifts to make ends meet, but because the state won't pay overtime but will pay per diem staff double to work. So you people should not complain about state workers coma in about the scabs who make double what state workers make..

I am a state worker and just celebrated my 27th year with the state and have had 3 promotions since I started there. I am lazy?? People who complain need to get off the system and get a job instead of bashing other people who are paying for their benefits!!

The State workers are not half as bad as National Grid. OMG, six trucks, two supervisor cars, etc. and one person working. I've seen that a million times.

Of course my house is paid for, and my hard work and careful money management paid for it. I also have investments and a regular income from those. I paid attention to people who told me to save, not to overextend credit, and to stay employed. Go figure. Those are my "irons in the fire". You could be doing well with some self-discipline, but apparently you just like to generalize about people who are doing well, and assume there must be something shady going on if they're living well within their means. I PLANNED for my retirement and didn't raid the cookie jar to get things I couldn't afford. Now I'm doing fine, and a pension is just extra insurance that I'll continue to enjoy a hard earned retirement. You want that? Get off your butt and work for it!

<quoted text>Why would anyone want to take the potato voltage in a jar test when if they can basically spell and be accountable they could do 3x better now instead of waiting for that pension that's slowly disappearing anyway? Easy to see who the crying little man who needs a mirror is. No matter what you say your heroics and leech union handout welfare jobs have destroyed NY. But you sound like you're so happy so who am I to interfere with your "bliss"? Peanut.
Hey sparky, check your facts. Our retirement system is MORE than solvent. Did you ever take a civil service test? I'm guessing not. Do me a favor, next time you're pulled over by a NYS Trooper, feel free to enlighten him on your position on state employees. I'm sure he'd love to hear it. See, all you whiners and complainers are realizing how bad your screwed up in your younger years. Shoot for that Monday thru Friday 20 buck an hour manufacturing job and end up at Wally World, if your lucky, pulling in maybe 10 bucks an hour after the jobs dried up. Too bad you didn't have the foresight we did. Laugh at us for working off hours, weekends, holidays, forced overtime. But in the end it pays off. We stroll out at 55 (if you have the years, which I do) with a nice pension (which I need to stress again is VERY solvent) and lifetime medical. Hey, Sparky... have fun working till your 67, and maybe can pull in 2 years of Social Security before you check out.

Lastly, instead of complaining about what WE have, why aren't you asking your company why YOU don't? Guarantee your corporate guys aren't hurting or concerned with working till they're dead.

Well asshole, I don't live in NY and rarely have to go there and BTW haven't been pulled over in 17 years. So go pretend some puffychest Tooper can bully me as they bully you but it's not happening. And IF they ever did get mouthy they'd get a call from God NY making sure they should shut the fuck up when you're aware of the resources and friends of the people who employ THEM.

Attitudes and stupidity like yours are a perfect example why State Government workers are mostly stupid angry loudmouths with no facts who need to be put in check. Nationwide, and NY and NJ your pensions are a coming trainwreck and funded by taxpayers. Both states have faulty accounting and some of the worst cases of lying to the taxpayers.

Get YOUR facts straight jerk! http://www.empirecenter.org/pensioncalculator...

"New York's Pension Bomb

Empire Center for New York State Policy

State and local government employees in New York collect taxpayer-guaranteed pension benefits that are far more generous than those available to most private-sector workers.

The cost of public pensions is about to blow through the roof, with financial consequences that could affect generations of New Yorkers to come. And it's not just pensions: state and local governments have promised over $200 billion in post-retirement health care -- but set aside no money to pay for it."

Keep planning that trip to Hawaii when your 65 goofo!

In the reports you will see that the Democrat blue states are doing their best to catch up to Detroit. The blue states have the largest pension bombs by far at least 2x what the red states do. Keep voting for Albany perverts criminals and crony capitalists!

Seriously? You want to go after NYS Dot workers? Are you kidding me? Do you know how much money these guys make? is 36k for 15 years of service too much? Cadillac pension? You are seriously mistaken. This site is all about complaining about how much/how little someone is making or someone is doing. If you are employed by NYS, City, Town..you are also paying taxes too. I support my family, pay my taxes and live within my means. I am not taking advantage of my employer. I give an honest day of work. If everyone did the same, this country would not be in the trouble it is now. Some of the comments that come from people are just so vile and disgusting. If you would not say it to someone then you should not type it either. Shame on you all.
